Gyro Bowl for Kids ReviewI’ve wanted a Gyro Bowl since I first saw the kids slinging around their snacks in the commercial, so I was really happy when I got one for review. Jake is a slob. Sorry, there is no way to sugarcoat that one. He’s six, so it’s to be expected, but my goodness can he make a mess. He’s always leaving his snack bowls in random places (I’m not one of those moms that enforces the whole “eat only in the kitchen” rule, not that there’s anything wrong with those who do) and everything from cereal to goldfish end up everywhere. My dog, Cooper, of course thinks this is awesome, especially when we yell “Cooper! Hoover!” Well Coop, sorry to tell you boy, but you’re going to have to find your crumb fix somewhere else, because the Gyro Bowl really does work!

The concept is pretty simple, the bowl is like a globe inside a spinny thing. I know there is a more technical term, but it’s completely evading me at this moment. It reminds me of those rides where you strap in to the middle of a circle and spin all around. They always used to have them at the beach back in the mid-90s. Back to the point- basically, no matter how you turn the Gyro Bowl, the part that contains the food stays upright. No more spills!

Gyro Bowl for Kids ReviewWe tested it with dry Cheerios (Jake likes milk with his cereal, not on it), Goldfish, and a few other snack foods, and they all stayed put. If you fill the bowl too much, though, it will spill or get jammed in the technical spinny thing. In Gyro Bowl’s defense, we did really stuff it full of Goldfish that time, so I can’t really count that as their flaw. I do think it would be great if they came out with a larger one as well, for those times when you just need a bit more of a snack. Then again, the smaller size may help with portion control.
