E=cards are not only a great way to save money on stamps during the holiday season, they’re also much better for the environment than regular cards. While I still love sending out holiday cards to close friends and family, for those who I don’t really talk to ever but still want to say “hey, even though I never get around to calling you, and we haven’t seen each other in a decade, I’m still thinking of you!” That’s where e-cards come in handy. They’re also great for get-well wishes and other occasions.
Finding the right e-card can be a little problematic. There are so many out there, yet they all seem pretty much the same. Ojolie, on the other hand, is much different. Rather than offering a massive array of prefabricated e-cards with canned images, Ojolie offers unique, classy, hand-designed cards with flash animation. The site is run by a husband and wife team, along with the help of one other artist. Frederikke Tu painstakingly draws each card before setting it to animation, and her husband Timothy handles all the behind-the-scenes IT work.
The cards are really pretty. You can tell by looking at them that the artist took the time to create something that you can be proud to send to your family and friends. Where most of us send e-cards as an “oops, I forgot all about your Birthday, Anniversary, etc and so on” last minute deal, these are actually nice enough to completely replace printed cards. The animation is simple, but very charming and sweet, and the instrumental background music makes the perfect accompaniment. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I really love the “Food Coma” card. The ending of the animation is pictured below.
Ojolie also has a great selection of cute cards that would be appropriate for children, like this adorable puppy kisses one:
