For some reason, Sucrets reminds me of my childhood. Maybe because those little tins filled with sore-throat soothing goodness have been around since my grandparents were kids (Sucrets tins appeared on the scene way back in 1931). Or, maybe because I remember seeing them in the house during cold season every year, and at the corner drugstore (yes, I’m old enough to have had one of those, I think it’s actually still there) as well. Whatever the reason, it’s one of those products that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
For the last few years, I actually kind of forgot about Sucrets, because I don’t get a lot of sore throats. I’m lucky that way. My little brother gets severe strep throat if someone with a cold even thinks about him from half a world away, but I’ve never been prone to them. Unfortunately, I am prone to upper respiratory infections, which eventually move down into my chest and make me cough like a lunatic. That’s why I was pretty happy to find out that Sucrets makes Sucrets Complete, for sore throats, coughs, and stuffiness. It has the same soothing effect as Sucrets Classic, but with an added burst of menthol to clear up your nasal passages and help you breathe easier. The menthol also acts as a cough suppressant. I prefer these over regular cough medicine, especially during the day, because just about every other medicine either makes me loopy or drowsy (even the non-drowsy stuff).
Cold season is already well underway in my area, with some really nasty strain going around that hangs on for weeks. My samples of Sucrets came just in time (I have been so lucky lately, everything I review seems to come exactly when I need it), because I was in the middle of that nasty cold. I cannot function with a stuffy head. I write for a living, so I need to be able to think clearly, and that’s a little hard when your sinuses are pulsating through your head. The Sucrets Complete did a great job of clearing out my sinuses and allowing me to start thinking in complete sentences again, and best of all, I wasn’t loopy or drowsy!
Just in time for the nasty cold and flu season, Sucrets is giving one of my readers the same products I received. One person will receive two tins of the Sucrets Classic and two tins of Sucrets Complete. To enter, fill out the Rafflecopter form. Giveaway ends on Nov. 30th at 11:59PM, and is open to US Residents age 18+. Winner will be notified via email and has 48 hours to respond.
Note- I received free samples to help with my review, my opinions are my own. Also, in no way should my opinions be taken as medical advice. Never take medical advice from the internet, it’s just a bad idea. Check with your doctor before using any medication, even over-the-counter products, if you have a preexisting medical condition or are taking other medications.
