Beyond the Grind Coffee Review

by Nicole on January 28, 2012

Forget honey or ambrosia, coffee is definitely the sweet elixir of the gods. It’s a magical beverage that enables me to open my eyes at 7:30 in the morning and pretend to be a functioning member of society well before noon. I have never been and will never be a morning person, so coffee and I are pretty much in a lifelong commitment here. Since boredom is the bane of any long-term relationship, I like to try new coffee as often as possible. I recently had the chance to try the DG Origin Coffee Entrepreneur blend from Beyond the Grind.

The whole bean Entrepreneur blend is a sophisticated coffee. One of my favorite things to do when getting new coffee is to open the bag and inhale the aroma of the beans (or grind, when it comes already ground). Entrepreneur has a deep, dark, masculine aroma with a bit of a sharp bite. Since it is whole bean coffee, I prefer to grind as I go, with just one day’s worth at a time. The ground coffee aroma is a little more settled than the whole bean aroma. Sticking with the Entrepreneur theme, the whole bean aroma is like that cut-throat, “go get ‘em” feeling you get when you’re trying to land a huge new client, while the ground coffee gives off that confident vibe that comes when you think you’ve done a great job of presenting yourself and your company. You know you rocked the meeting, and you’re just waiting for the good news.  The taste of the coffee itself once brewed is that smug, satisfied feeling you get after the good news arrives. This coffee has personality, that’s for sure.

Beyond the Grind offers several different DG Origin blends as well as numerous other types of coffee gifts, teas, snacks, syrups, and more. They really do go beyond the grind. For those who aren’t sure which blend to try first, they offer Monthly Grind Clubs. Each month, they select the best locally roasted fresh coffee and ship it right to your door. You can choose from 3,6, or 12 month subscriptions with either 1.5 pounds or 3 pounds of coffee per shipment.

GIVEAWAY

One of you will win a 3-month subscription to the Coffee Club. All you have to do to get in the running is follow the directions on the Rafflecopter form.
