After a mild December and a relatively nice first week of January, the frigid temps have finally struck. I even heard a rumor that we’re in for an actual snow storm this weekend! This, of course, means I’ll be shoveling the driveway and whining about how Mother Nature couldn’t make it snow during the week when I have someone here to help me with the monumental task. When I’m done, I’ll head inside, bundle up in a blanket, and drink a piping-hot cup of my Oregon Chai  tea to warm me up and make me feel better.

Oregon Chai sent me three boxes of their Chai tea bags, including the Original blend, the Energia Herbal blend, and the Dreamscapes Herbal blend. Together, they make up the perfect day of Chai goodness. While I need my coffee to get moving in the morning, I like to follow up with the Energia Herbal Chai tea to keep me going mid-morning. The naturally caffienated Yerba Maté and Guayusa give me the mental nudge that I need to focus and remain alert enough to get in a full day of writing. Each cup contains about the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee.

When the early-evening slump hits me, I move on to the Original Chai blend, which is actually my favorite. I love the rich, spicy aroma and taste, especially when mixed with a little cream and sugar. I prefer to let mine steep for a good5 minutes so it’s nice and strong. It’s not quite as caffienated as coffee, with about the amount you would find in half a cup, so it’s just right for the 4pm blahs.  At night, I drink the Dreamscape Herbal Chai tea to help me relax. It still has all the spices that make up chai tea, but it’s decaf so it won’t keep you up.

While Oregon Chai is most well-known for their concentrated chai mix, the tea bags are great because they give you complete control over the strength of your tea. The longer you steep them, the spicier and stronger the flavor. Plus they’re so convenient, so you can take them anywhere and enjoy a cup of chai tea on the go. I’ve tried a lot of chai tea bags over the years, and I can honestly say that so far, Oregon Chai is my favorite. It tastes just like the kind in fancy coffee shops.
