As a blogger, I spend a lot of time reading other blogs, looking for useful information to incorporate into my own blogging, and reading press releases to find fun stuff to pass along to my readers. I try to remember to bookmark everything I want to refer back to later, but then my list gets out of control and I have no idea which bit of information I wanted to use for which purpose. I just started using a new free service called clipix , and so far I love it.
It takes less than a minute to sign up for a free account, and you can use Facebook, Twitter, or your email to log in. Once you’re signed up, just drag the little “Clip” bookmarklet to your link toolbar. When you’re browsing around and come across something you would like to save, hit the button, choose a clipboard, and save. I love how the button automatically puts in the title and url of the article for me, so I don’t have to waste a lot of time adding descriptions.
Later, when you have more time to sit and read all those great articles, go back to your Clipix account, select your clipboard, click on the article you want to read, and enjoy. Clipix makes it easy to share your clips through Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites too, so you can pass on all your new-found knowledge. Check out my screenshot of my Blogging clipboard. It’s a little sparse, as I’m still experimenting and trying to add all my bookmarks to the board, but you get the overall idea.
Of course, you don’t have to be a blogger to enjoy Clipix. Use it to categorize recipes, do a little comparison shopping, or keep track of ideas for your next family vacation. It’s highly customizable, so you can clip just about anything under the sun. For those of you with iPhones, there’s an app that allows you to take your clipboards along with you. If you’re using a clipboard to gather gift ideas, you can even set it to private so no one can peek. The options are pretty much limitless. I’d love to hear your ideas for using Clipix! Tell me what type of articles or information you would categorize into neat little clipboards.
