Perilous Light and Beckoning Light Tour: Guest Post

The Supporting Cast

My favorite part of the writing process is creating new characters. There is something incredibly satisfying when a character goes from a sketch to someone “real” and fleshed out. As a writer, your focus is usually on the major characters, but what about the supporting cast? These characters may not have as much dialogue or “stage time” but sometimes they can transform a reader’s experience. Other times, a character that is supposed to have a tiny role can actually become an important part of a book. One of my favorite supporting cast members in Beckoning Light is Henry. A sweet boy who helps Charlotte during her time in Energo, Henry started out as nothing but a name on a list but eventually became an essential part of Charlotte’s experience.

So let’s hear it for those secondary characters, anyone have any favorites?
