With less than a week left before the start of season 3 of Rizzoli & Isles (June 5th, at 9/8c), there’s still a little time left to catch up on anything you may have missed in the second season. The Rizzoli & Isles Season 2 DVD released last week, and it is chock full of bonus features that are pretty much guaranteed to enhance the viewing pleasure of any fan of the show.
Bonus Features Include:
- An hour long Featurette that takes you behind the scenes to see the intensive and rigorous process of generating the 14th episode
- Gag reels
- Unaired scenes
- UltraViolet Digital Copy
Unaired scenes are always a favorite of mine because it often gives a little extra insight. The way I see it, they are scenes that the writer considered an integral part of the story at some point, otherwise they wouldn’t have ever been filmed. Of course, time constraints on television shows mean some scenes end up on the cutting floor, but I still feel like they give me a bit more information about the overall story. To me, unaired scenes are like missing pages of a manuscript.
My other favorite bonus features are gag reels. On television shows and movies, characters always speak flawlessly. No one ever stumbles over their words, and even the slightest “slip of the tongue” is heavily orchestrated to fit the conversation. In the real world, we don’t all speak mellifluously all the time. I mean, you should hear me talk some time! I can write fairly well, but when it comes to speaking, I trip over my words constantly. I think it’s because I type way faster than I speak, and I think way faster than my mouth can move, which is pretty scary because I can talk insanely fast!
