Children’s Place has been a staple in my son’s wardrobe since he was born. I love their clothes because they hold up so well. Take the outfit pictured below, for example. Jake played hard in it. We had a lot of rain the other night, and he was out all day yesterday running around, splashing in mud puddles, and generally making a mess of himself. Yet the shorts and t-shirt didn’t look any worse for the wear. I have clothes from years ago that I’m passing down, and they still look brand new. I’m going to be really sad when he finally gets too big for their clothes. Of course, they sell up to size 14 in boys, so I still have a while to go. I received a $25 gift card for this review, and I managed to get Jake 3 pairs of shorts, a t-shirt, and a pair of Spongebob swimming trunks, all with only $1.06 out of pocket after applying the gift card. Children’s Place has some really amazing sales, and I ordered when they had their free shipping for the Memorial Day sale.

Children's Place

Jacob in his Children's Place outfit. He refuses to do normal smiles these days!

We took a cruise a few years ago, and Children’s Place was definitely heavily featured in Jake’s ginormous suitcase (I am an over-packer by nature, and the thought of being in the middle of the ocean with no major stores around made me a bit worse than usual). They have awesome cruise-worthy outfits. Personally, I think a cruise should be relaxing, so I didn’t dress him up a lot for it. The shorts and cool nautical-themed t-shirt are perfect for hanging around on the boat.

While our first cruise (and only, so far) was with another line, I want my next one to be with Norwegian Cruise Lines. Ideally, we’d do the Nickelodeon cruise, which is exclusive to Norwegian. You really can’t get more kid-friendly than that. But even if you don’t want to go with a kid-centric theme, all the Norwegian cruises have great stuff for kids to do.  A few of the highlights in their complimentary youth programs include:

  • Kid’s Center, with Wii games and other activities
  • Cirque Du Jour, where kids can learn cool circus-like tricks, such as juggling and tumbling
  • Teen center for older kids, with a PS3, televisions, and more.
  • Themed parties for teens, like scary movie night, karaoke, and so on.

With so many cool activities, you won’t feel guilty dropping the kids off at Splash Academy for a little alone time for reading by the pool.
