So, oddly enough, there is actually an entire holiday dedicated to reading in the bathtub. It’s called…wait for it…Read in the Bathtub Day, and it takes place on February 9th. Apparently, a lot of people really enjoy reading in the bathtub. I’ve kind of always wanted to be one of those people. I mean, I love reading just about everywhere else, why not the tub? Alas, I am a klutz of epic proportions, and I’ve yet to figure out a way to actually master this practice. How do you not get your book wet? Or worse, your Kindle?? Aren’t you bathtub readers afraid of frying your expensive e-reader?

Since I am dying to soak in a nice tub full of lavender-scented water and relax with my favorite book I decided to search out products that could theoretically make this possible. I’m sharing them with you (not the you that can actually read in the tub without destroying your book, but the you who also yearns to let Calgon and a good book take you away to a far-off land) so that you can realize the dream of reading in the bathtub too!

Tools that Make it Easier to Read in the Bathtub

Taymor Chrome Bathtub Caddy with Candle Holder and Wine Glass HolderTools to Help You Read in the Bathtub

I would imagine that, at the least, you need a good tray to keep your book from getting wet when you read in the bathtub. Now, I’m sure just about any tray would work, but if you’re going for the whole ambiance thing, this one comes with a candle holder and a special place to put your wine glass. I’m not really much of a wine drinker, but hey, I could always use it to hold some water. Does anyone else get wickedly thirsty while in the bathtub?

Okay, technically this won’t keep you from dropping your book while you’re reading in the bathtub, but it will definitely make you more comfy!

Waterproof Case for Kindle Tools to Help You Read in the Bathtub

If you’re going to read in the bathtub with your Kindle, you really need something to ensure that it doesn’t fizzle out if you happen to splash it during cold plunges. Now, while this case does say “waterproof,” I’m still pretty sure it’s a bad idea to actually dunk your Kindle in the water!

Books! You certainly can’t read in the bathtub without these, now can you?

I can’t really think of anything else that would help you read in the bathtub. Do you have any ideas? I’d love to know your tips and tricks for not getting the book wet! Like I said, I’m a total klutz. Have a Happy Read in the Bathtub Day!
