I usually start posts with my own story, but the Lovely Candy Company’s story is just too sweet to not use as an opener! The company started as a man’s journey to find his wife a delicious candy that she could actually eat. See, Jackie really wanted licorice, but it had to be gluten-free and GMO-free. Mike, her loving husband, set off on a journey to find it. Later, Mike and Jackie started searching for caramels and fruit chews that met her requirements. At some point, they must have decided to stop hunting and hit the kitchen themselves! The Lovely Candy Company was born because one man wanted to make candy for his lovely wife. I think that’s so romantic!
Candy is one of the most popular stocking stuffers during the holiday season. What do you do, though, when your loved one is on a strict diet and can’t eat the candy you’d find in mass-market stores? So many people are dealing with gluten allergies, while others are removing the substance from their diet by choice. Gluten-free options are getting more popular for breads and other types of goodies, but I don’t really see many gluten-free candies on the shelves. To be honest, I didn’t realize that candy had gluten in it. I had to look at gluten-free diets on the Mayo Clinic to gain a better understanding. Candy is one of the things they say to avoid unless it is labeled “gluten-free.”

I received the full line of current offerings from the Lovely Candy Company at the time of shipment. This included their regular caramels, Chocolate Swirl Caramels, Fruit Chews and Superfruit Chews. They also recently introduced Organic Cherry Licorice Drops. I only got a few of each of the caramels because my mom and Sal both love caramels, so they ate them up on me!
Look at those mouthwatering caramels! They are insanely delicious! I love them because they aren’t hard to chew. They almost melt in your mouth! I am not a huge fan of candy that gets all stuck in your teeth. The flavor is amazing. My favorites were the Chocolate Swirl Caramels, because I love anything with chocolate in it, of course. I love how these caramels are just the right amount of sweet. They’re rich and delicious without trying too hard. You’d never know they were gluten-free candies!
The Fruit Chews really impressed me! I was expecting something small and flat, like the popular fruit chews you’d get in a supermarket. Lovely Candy Company’s fruit chews are full of flavor and texture. Best of all, they also don’t get stuck in your teeth! Seriously, that massively impressed me. How did they manage to create a chewy candy that doesn’t leave you screwing up your face to pick your teeth with your tongue because you’re too polite to shove your hands in your mouth in company? Maybe the secret is in the all-natural ingredients that they use.
