Philips Avent DECT Monitor: Perfect for on-the-go moms

When my niece Abbie was born, my brother and sister-in-law had just about everything you would think a baby needs. Ryan and Jennie live three hours away from us, so we had a baby shower for them up here. They also had two down where they live! You can imagine that Abbie now has more clothes than any infant could possibly wear, plenty of receiving blankets (an inside joke with my brother, he had no idea what these were and was confused when I told him to expect to receive dozens of them unless he makes a proper registry!) and loads of toys to last until college.

One thing they didn’t have, though, was a baby monitor. When the chance to review the Philips Avent DECT Monitor SCD670 came up, I grabbed it for them. After all, you can’t really have a baby without a baby monitor! How else is Jennie going to be able to issues orders to my brother when she’s in the baby’s room and he’s downstairs? Plus, you know, the whole benefit of being able to leave a room and still hear your baby. That’s always important too!

My Jacob visiting with his cousin Abbie.

Yesterday, I had the chance to see my niece for the first time since February.  She’s 4 months old now and changed so much since I last saw her! Now she coos, laughs, “talks” to her toys and loves seeing the world around her. She’s already an on-the-go baby, which is fitting because Jennie is quite the on-the-go mom. She’s very social and loves taking Abbie visiting.

Philips Avent DECT Monitor lets you monitor your baby anywhere

Philips Avent DECT Monitor

The great thing about the Philips Avent DECT Monitor is that it’s incredibly portable, so you can monitor your baby anywhere. At home, Jennie can listen for Abbie from all over the house downstairs, whether she’s cooking up a delicious meal (like my brother, she’s very talented in the kitchen) or watching their dogs run around the back yard getting attacked by mama birds (Owen gets too close to the nest!). It’s small enough that it doesn’t completely clash with the decor.

The entire unit is small enough to throw into the diaper bag when Jennie goes to her parents’ house or visiting friends. It even comes with a convenient travel bag! Abbie can still catch a nap in a quiet room while Jennie has time to chat and relax. Of course, she can also use it to send commands to my brother when she’s up with the baby. Since it’s a one-way monitor, he has no choice but to respond!

The Philips Avent DECT Monitor features climate sensors and vibration alert and baby unit features LCD screen. One really great feature of this line of monitors is that it knows how much power it needs to communicate with the base. With the Smart Eco Mode, the closer you are to your baby, the less power you use. Plus, with the “link” light, you always know when it’s reaching your baby. No worries about dead batteries when it gets a little too quiet in her room! It even has data encryption, so you don’t have to worry about neighbors picking up your private conversations (or, you know, even more private moments!).

Jennie and Ryan use their Philips Avent DECT Monitor constantly. It reassures them that miss Gabby Abbie is safe and sound when she’s in her crib. Visit the Philips store to check out the monitor and explore other options.
