Whether they’re heading back to school or staying overnight at the grandparents’, it’s nice for little ones to have at least one good backpack they are comfortable wearing. Not only does it make them feel good to have all their belongings in a bag of their own, but also it helps give them a sense of independence to proudly carry it themselves.
Bixbee Fairy Flyer Backpack with Light Up Wings
Bixbee is a line of designer backpacks that combines functionality and durability with eye-catching designs. They also sell accessories for kids like wristlets, purses, and duffle bags. My daughter and I had a chance to review their Fairy Flyer. Their backpacks are built with kids’ measurements in mind and allow parents to purchase based on their child’s size in order to alleviate any back pain or unnecessary accidents from improper fit.
After a quick glance my daughter was absolutely delighted to check out the Fairy Flyer backpack further. It is one of their small sizes at 12.5” wide by 4” deep and 10” high so it sits on her well (at 4 years old and about 3 1/2 ft. tall) with plenty of room to let out each strap when needed. The Fairy Flyer is also just one of the backpacks in Bixbee’s Flyer collection and that lights up with LED lights situated in each iridescent wing. For a little girl who is super into dress-up, these wings are a dream. Two AA batteries operate a small touch button device that allows you to pick from 3 different light patterns. When not in use, the device sits conveniently in a smaller external pocket.
The main body of this bag is smaller than that of a traditional backpack, but we’ve found that it is still large enough to fit a change of clothes or even a couple of small coloring books with a set of crayons and a stuffed animal. There are two more smaller pockets inside for little items as well and two more compartments on each side. D-rings on each shoulder strap are included for clip on toys and keychains.
Bixbee adds a couple of nice safety features to their backpacks that I like. First, even for a child’s backpack the shoulder straps are nice and padded for a comfortable fit. The back panel that rests along the child’s back is also nicely padded. There are also three points on the backpack that have reflective strips for better visibility in low light. Bixbee looks out for the safety of the kids who wear their backpacks further by offering large, medium, and small sizes along with fitting instructions on their website.
There’s one more thing about this company that I appreciate. For every Bixbee bag purchased, the company donates a backpack with school supplies to children in need around the world. Through their One Here. One There® program Bixbee customers are part of a movement to make a difference in the life of a child they have never met. How awesome is that?
They also have a super cute LED Space Racer backpack for your wanna-be astronauts!
