I received a complimentary sample of Rocking Monsters in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

I love finding unique and fun gift ideas for my friend’s toddler. When Jacob was little, she always got him the coolest stuff that no one else would think of, like a ride-on giraffe from a Christmas village a few hours away, or the coolest trike on the planet (still in great shape after all these years and ready to be passed down). Now that she has a toddler, I try to return the favor and be that cool “aunt” that always comes up with the neatest stuff. Rocking Monsters definitely fit that bill!

What are Rocking Monsters?

These clever wooden rocking toys were created by a graphic designer (and parent) who wanted to build his child something unique and fun. With help from a craftsman and a safety tester (who ensured that the rocker could handle weight up to 150 pounds), Rocking Monsters were born! Right now, they have three different designs completed, including my favorite: the ghost!

How insanely cute is he? I love the combination of natural birch wood and the splash of color on the inside. These toys aren’t just fun for kids, they also look super classy so you won’t need to hide them away in the playroom. Major features include:

  • Safety – The corners are all rounded so there are no sharp edges, and the wood won’t splinter or scratch your child. They are made from solid birch plywood, using food-grade mineral oil, and non-toxic acrylic paints. All of the pieces come together in such a way that you don’t have to worry about little fingers getting pinched. Unlike the rocking horse I had as a kid, there are no springs to get hair and clothes caught in.
  • Eco-friendly -Rocking Monsters are built using only environmentally friendly supplies. Also, since they’re designed to last (and are just so stinking cute), they won’t end up in a landfill in a year like so many of the toys we buy our kids.
  • Easy to assemble – If you’re like me and get super frustrated when you’re trying to put things together, you’ll love Rocking Monsters. They take just about 5 minutes to assemble and all of the tools needed are included. Depending on the monster, you’re looking at between 6-8 construction pieces, along with the screws and what not. While you should definitely read the instructions, assembly is actually pretty intuitive.
  • Durable – Rocking Monsters can handle up to a 150-lb adult, so they’re definitely built to last. Good thing, too, because these are heirloom quality toys that your kids will want to pass down to their own one day! How much do you love this pic of the Rocking Monsters team demonstrating the durability of their toys? Adorable, right?

While the ideal height for kids using the Rocking Monsters is 3 feet, they can be enjoyed by children of all ages up to the weight limit. The geniuses behind Rocking Monsters spent a lot of time finding the perfect position for the handles, seat, and the skis so your child has the smoothest ride possible.

Along with the insanely cute Ghost, Rocking Monsters are also available in Octopus (above) and Shark. Right now, the only way to get them is through the Kickstarter. I suggest jumping on the opportunity to support these beautiful rocking toys and getting in on the early bird pricing. I am honestly surprised at how reasonably priced they are. A pledge $99-119 gets you your choice of Rocking Monster when they start shipping in March. Head over to their Kickstarter page to see all of the reward levels. Follow Rocking Monsters on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to keep up with all of their news.
