What Makes Lady & the Tramp a Must-Own Family Classic?

Lady & the Tramp came out 20 years before I was born, yet it was still one of my favorite Disney movies as a kid. I’ve always been a dog lover (as I’m sure you can tell, given the sheer number of posts about my pups), and there was just something so magical about the story of two dogs in love. Lady, the pampered yet sweet Cocker Spaniel, and Tramp, the little scamp with a heart of gold, captured my attention and my heart. I must have seen it a dozen times. I think there are scenes that stayed with all of us as we grew up, like the “spaghetti kiss” scene, or the Siamese Cat song. Jake grew up hearing those references, but he never actually saw the movie. I’m so excited to be able to share it with him now.

The Signature Collection Edition makes it even more fun to watch with your family. In fact, you have three different ways to enjoy the film. Watch it as it was intended in all it’s remastered glory, turn on the Sing-A-Long Mode and belt out The Siamese Cat Song together, or turn on Inside Walt’s Story Meetings for a behind-the-scenes tour of the making of the movie. The fun doesn’t stop after the credits roll, though. The Blu-Ray is loaded with outstanding bonus features. A few of my favorites include:

  • Delete scenes- You have to watch “Introduction of Boris!” Turns out, Tramp wasn’t the only potential suitor for Lady! Thank goodness it was Tramp that won her heart, though! Can you imagine if the movie was Lady and the Aristocrat? The Digital version comes with even more deleted scenes, like Tramp’s dream of a world run by dogs (if you get the Blu-Ray, it comes with the Digital as well).
  • New Signature Bonus material: learn how to make the perfect meatball with teen chef Amber Kelley and take a tour of Walt’s office studio!
  • All your favorite songs: From Bella Notte to The Siamese Cat Song, you can sing along to all the best Lady and the Tramp tunes!

You can also watch all of the theatrical trailers from the movie on the Digital version! It’s pretty neat to see the original 1955 trailer and compare it to the 1986 re-issue trailer (that’s when I saw the movie the first time!).
