I come from a very diverse European background. My grandmother was Italian and French, my grandfather German and Lithuanian, and my dad was pretty much all Irish and English. While I love the fact that I’m basically a European mutt that could travel the entire continent and find someplace that my ancestors used to live, it does have its downsides. My skin, for example, is 100% Irish, and it burns if I even look at the sun the wrong way. My son, who got most of his biological traits from me, is pretty much the same way. We’re a couple of ghosts, although he fares a little better than I do.
Because of my tendency to turn into a lobster every summer, I am a bit obsessive about sunscreen. I need something strong, something that wont wash off the moment I hop in the water, and something that is easy to apply on the go. That’s where Neutrogena comes in. As part of a blog tour for Mom Central, I was sent a lovely sampling of Neutrogena’s Wet Skin Sunblock in four varieties, including one for children and my personal favorite- the 85+ SPF.
Today was the first half-nice day in a while. We’ve had nothing but rain and clouds here for the last two weeks. Finally, the sun came out and the temperature went up. What better way to spend the afternoon than on a brand new Slip and Slide, right? Well, that was the idea. We went out and bought one, came home, went to set it up and found out that the faucet outside doesn’t turn on. We’re renting this house and moved in during the winter, so we never had cause to try it before. Jake was heartbroken, so instead I offered to shoot him with his new water gun, the kind with pumping action. That appeased him, so out we went. I made him do a quick video to show everyone how easy it is to apply Neutrogena’s new sunscreen.
It really is easy to spray on, and even easier to rub into your skin. The Kid’s version has a pleasant citrus scent while the other versions have a beachy scent to them (but not like coconut, more like water and waves). I also love how soft they make my skin feel, not at all sticky or filmy. I can’t wait to get to the pool this year and try it out some more!
