Jacob has been obsessed with bath time since he was little, probably because of all his awesome bath toys. He started with a bucket when he was a baby, which grew into a bin as a toddler, and is now a three-drawer plastic organizing system with some over-flow on top. He loves his bath toys! So when I was perusing the Boon website and came across the Creatures Interchangeable Bath Toy Cup Set, I knew he’d love them, and I requested the chance to review them. Now, technically, they are made for much younger children, or 9 months and up, but they’re also perfect for little bathtub science experimenters like Jake. He likes to mix concoctions out of bubbles and colored bath tablets, and these cups looked perfect for the task.
The Creatures Bath Toys arrived pretty quickly, and Jake had a chance to try them out the first night. It was a little iffy, because the power was out half the afternoon due to a whopping five minute storm that still managed to knock down a wire or something. But luckily the power came back on before bath time.
Jake had a blast mixing his bizarre science experiments in the interchangeable cups, especially since the mixture slowly trickled out of the little holes in the creatures’ heads, sort of like watching an IV drip, but a little faster. I like the fact that they’re safe for kids of almost all ages. It’s hard to find toys that can go from stage to stage without becoming too “babyish” in Jake’s eyes. I also like that they’re free of bPa, Philate, and PVC. Plus they’re pretty darn cute.
As a company, Boon has a neat back story. It was started by a mom who just wanted to find a cute and easy way to store her child’s bath toys. From there, the widely popular Frog Pod was born. Before long, that same mom was taking on a partner and coming up with even more cute products to make life both easier and a little more colorful. I also love the fact that Boon contributes a whopping 10 percent of all their profits to charities to help children in need.
