I’m not a big breakfast eater, even though I know it’s the most important meal of the day. Part of the reason I rarely bother is that I just don’t have time. I know, poor excuse, but it’s true. I don’t have the time or patience to even so much as pour myself a bowl of cereal in the morning. Well, maybe not so much a lack of time as complete and utter laziness. I’m not a morning person. In fact, I think I curse every morning when the alarm goes off. Usually I grab some sort of unhealthy cookie just so I can say “hey, I ate something!” So when I stumbled across Erin Baker’s Wholesome Baked Goods and saw that they offered breakfast cookies, I wrote them right away asking if I could do a review. It’s a cookie, and it’s wholesome! What could be better first thing in the morning for a lazy person like me?
My Erin Baker’s Experience
I tried three different types of the Breakfast Cookie- Caramel Apple, Double Chocolate Chunk, and Morning Glory. My mom ate the Oatmeal Raisin one because I don’t do raisins. These cookies are really thick and hearty, making them super filling. In fact, with the full-sized cookies, I could only eat half of one at a time. The Double Chocolate Chunk was definitely my favorite, because I pretty much love anything chocolate. They’re full of moist, chocolatey goodness and chunks of real Belgian chocolate. So yummy! The Caramel Apple was my second favorite, it tasted just like that favorite fall treat, without all the mess! The cookies are made with whole grain and natural ingredients, like unbleached flour, prune juice (I didn’t even know until I looked on the ingredient list, who would have thought prune juice could be worked into a cookie and still taste good?), and aluminum-free baking powder (I didn’t know it came any other way, now I need to read up on this!).
I also tried the Organic Brownie Bites, with less than calories in each. Now, usually, when you get a brownie with under 100 calories, it’s this tiny, unsatisfying thing. Not with Erin Baker’s! They managed to pack a whole lot of goodness into that small brownie, which I’d say is about half the size of a regular brownie, but slightly thicker. The Chocolate Chip Mint flavor is really amazing, with a cooling burst of mint that lingers for a few minutes after you finish eating. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it’s made with natural peppermint flavor versus the factory-made stuff. I would definitely recommend Erin Baker’s, and remember, I’m a really picky eater! Be sure to check out Erin Baker’s Facebook and Twitter pages because they often share news and special promotions.
