Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could turn your bathroom into a fancy spa without the expense of remodeling? As a renter, I am pretty limited in what I can change in my bathroom. I can’t really start tearing out and replacing vanities, painting walls funky colors or anything else that involves major change. My landlord is pretty cool and would probably let me, but since I’ll eventually leave this house, I wouldn’t want to put a ton of money into it anyway. Still, I’m on this kick where I’m trying to make my surroundings a bit more serene, relaxing, enjoyable. So I wanted to do something with the bathroom to give it a more spa-like experience.
Get a Spa-Like Bathroom without Spending a Fortune

The fastest way to get a spa-like experience in your bathroom? Change your shower head! I have low water pressure and stinky sulfur water. A good shower head is a must in my bathroom. I look for something that helps increase the water pressure and filters out some of the nastiness in my water. It has to have a good, strong stream, otherwise it takes forever to rinse my thick hair.
I installed my AromaSense Handheld Vitamin C Shower Head about a month ago and it’s really outstanding. The stream alone is superb. It turns my low pressure into a more powerful stream that perfectly targets my crazy head of hair. I’m trying to think of a good way to describe it, but the texture of the water is different. Softer, yet stronger. I know “texture” is a weird word for describing a stream of water, but it’s the only one I can come up with.
The magic happens inside the shower head. See that little yellow cartridge? That’s actually a Vitamin C cartridge. While you’re showering, the vitamin is coming through the shower head and into your water, giving you a true spa-like experience. You can also switch that out for several other relaxing or rejuvenating scents, like lemon, citrus mango or eucalyptus. I’ll definitely be picking up the eucalyptus before next winter, when cold season strikes again. That Vitamin C cartridge doesn’t just neutralize the nasties in your water, it also helps relieve dry skin and fight the signs of aging.

Each part is replaceable and AromaSense even has plenty of other videos to help you along. One cool thing to note: the negative ionizer. The shower head produces negative ions. Studies have shown these ions to aid in breathing, increase blood flow, and alleviate stress (see this article for a bunch of sources).
As someone who has suffered from depression and anxiety most of her life, I can attest to the benefits of negative ions. I noticed years ago that I was often happier after a thunder storm. Science that I can’t pretend to understand says that the air is filled with more negative ions after such a storm. Showering with the AromaSense shower leaves me feeling happier. The combination of the negative ions and the aromatherapy (another thing that I strongly believe in) leaves me feeling more uplifted when I step out of the shower.
As far as killing the sulfur smell in my water, it definitely helps reduce it to a far more tolerable level. Nothing gets rid of that smell entirely, unfortunately. I’ve gotten used to it. Â My water definitely smells fresher, though!

A word of warning, though: it doesn’t come with the hose, so you need to either buy that yourself or have an existing handheld shower head. It was easy enough to pop off my old handheld and attach this one, though. If you need the bracket and hose, I suggest buying the this one. It comes with the hose, bracket and three refills. A good shower head makes the world of a difference in the shower. My shower was down for almost a month this winter and I had to use the kid’s bathroom shower and I literally went and bought a new shower head just so I was happier in the shower 😛

Good water pressure completely makes or breaks the shower experience for me so it’s great that it’s low flow but with a great pressure. I love that you can switch out the scents too!

This system sounds great, like a combination of my essential oils and a showerhead! This would be perfect to relax.
A great shower head makes such a difference! I also try to use candles to give it a bit more of spa-like feel. But I would really like to change the color of the tiles one day for more of a natural color tile and add a plant or something, then I will have a total spa-worthy bathroom.
