I love making different bath salts recipes. They’re one of the few things I make really well! Honestly, anyone can make them! Today, I’ll show you how very easy it is to make super cute Halloween Bath Salts.

Super Easy DIY Halloween Bath Salts Recipe

These look great on your bathroom counter and make fun little gifts to give away at your Halloween parties. I went with orange and lemon scents because I feel like they mix well together, but you can go with any scents you choose.

“Trick or Treat” Halloween Bath Salts Recipe

Funny story: this recipe was inspired by candy corn. Or it was supposed to be. Except I forgot that candy corn has white tips, and I didn’t add white to the mix. I don’t eat candy corn. I think it’s gross. My son loves it though. I tried to edit the pictures to make it look like I was a super genius who DIDN’T screw up a simple candy corn bath salts recipe, but you know what, that just looked dumb. So forget it. Now it’s a “Trick or Treat” Halloween Bath Salts recipe, loosely based on candy corn.

Super Easy DIY Halloween Bath Salts Recipe

Supplies

  • 2 1/2 cups Epsom Salts, divided
  • Lemon Essential Oil
  • Orange Essential Oil
  • Red and Yellow food coloring
  • Mason Jar
  • Plastic “zipper” sandwich bags

How to Make:

  • Add one cup of Epsom salts to each sandwich bag
  • In one bag, add about three drops of yellow food coloring, seal the bag and shake it really good. Check the color. If it’s yellow enough, set it aside. If not, add one drop at a time until you are happy with the yellowness. Add about two drops of lemon EO. Give it a sniff to see if it’s strong enough. DO NOT over-kill, remember, you’re adding it in with the orange.
  • In the other bag, add two drops red and one drop yellow. Shake it, baby! Examine orangeness. Adjust by adding one drop at a time of each color until you like the level of orange. This is actually the hardest part! Add 2 drops of Orange EO, smell, adjust. ONE drop at a time.
  • Get out your mason jar and open your yellow bag halfway. Pour a layer about 1/3 of the way up the jar of yellow.
  • Add a slightly larger layer of orange.
  • Pour a final layer of yellow.
  • Close and store in a dry place until you’re ready to use!

Tips:

I went with Epsom salts because they’re easy to find for everyone, inexpensive and work well. You can switch those out and use Dead Sea Salt or other coarser salts available at health food stores. I need to restock my supply of super fancy salts.

Food coloring: I use it with no problem. My tub nor my skin (or my son’s) has never come out stained. The key is to NOT go overboard. If you want blood red or black salts, though, I would recommend using cosmetic colorants instead. I don’t know where to get those. I’ll look, because I want to do a “candy cane” bath salt thing for Christmas, so by then, I’ll know!
