Carmex, the lip balm company that we’ve all come to know and love, has recently released a brand new line of skin care products that are every bit as healing and nourishing as the lip products that made the company famous in the first place. As part of the Carmex Blog Squad, I was sent a lovely drawstring muslin bag filled with a full-size and travel-size Carmex Healing Lotion and Carmex Healing Cream. I use a ton of lotion in the fall and winter months because my skin dries out super fast, especially when we’re using the wood burner for heat. I’m kind of a lotion addict, actually.
The Carmex Healing Lotion is a great all-over lotion. With ingredients like Aloe and Vitamin E, it does a great job of locking in moisture after you get out of the shower, or giving your skin a little pick me up before going to bed. I get really itchy at night. It’s psychosomatic, my therapist explained that it has something to do with my anxiety disorder. I can’t just have normal symptoms like hyperventilating, apparently. But anyway, I need to put lotion on before I go to bed both to relieve my dry skin and to signal to my bizarre sympathetic nervous system that everything is under control, so there is no need to send me uncontrollable itches. The Carmex Healing Lotion absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth.
Carmex Healing Cream is a little thicker and richer, and is designed for those really rough patches of skin. For me, that’s usually my elbows and heels. The cream contains nine different healing ingredients, including salicylic acid, which is used in numerous skin care products to combat dry skin and other conditions. Other ingredients include cocoa butter, lanolin, and comfrey root extract. This stuff works really great on my rough heels. Plus, it contains menthol, which really feels soothing on tired, achy feet.
Both the healing lotion and cream have a lighter version of Carmex’s signature scent. It’s not overpowering at all and I find it comforting, since I used Carmex when I was younger. The scent reminds me of those times before I had to stress over such mundane things as bills and what not.

I did not know that Carmex made a skin cream of any kind. I’ll look for it in stores. I of course have used the lip balm for years, it is one of the few that really works. I sometimes think that some brands of lip balm have a skin drying agent in them. Your lips feel good when you first apply it, then their dry within an hour and you re-apply. Probably a way to sell more. Anyway I will try the skin cream. Colorado’s air is dry all year, worse in the Winter
I think some of them do have something in them that makes you need to apply them more often. I’ve known people who were addicted to certain type of lip balm. It wouldn’t surprise me!

They are now in stores. A friend of mine told me and she was really into this and tries to get me to try it too. I have still my doubts but I am open to suggestions.
