I try to clean out my refrigerator once a week on garbage days, but that doesn’t always work out. Occasionally, some random fruit, vegetable, or leftovers hide in the back corner or somewhere and elude my purging. I usually don’t notice those until they start festering and become a mystery odor (that really should have been precluded by a “dun, dun, dun” sound). Sometimes, no matter how clean I keep the thing, the fridge still has that “not so fresh” feeling to it. Oransi, a company that develops green cleaning solutions, came up with an easy way to help keep my fridge smelling like it should, which is basically like nothing. Foods shouldn’t intermingle together on the food anymore than the majority of them should on the plate (did I mention I’m one of those people before? I think I did). When I open my refrigerator, I don’t want to smell last night’s pizza mixing with my oranges, because then I’ll start thinking of orange flavored pizza, and that’ just wrong on so many levels. I still don’t understand the concept of putting pineapple on pizza.
The Oransi Fridge Air Purifier is smaller than I thought it would be. For some reason, I pictured this pitcher-sized device that I was going to have to make room for. It’s actually only a couple of inches tall, and doesn’t really take up much room at all. I put it on the top shelf of my fridge. Even though it’s small, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Since I started using it over a week ago, I haven’t noticed any foul odors coming from my fridge, and I haven’t been all that meticulous about emptying it out either. In fact, that’s why I’m using the stock photo rather than my own. I have no desire to let you all see the inside of my fridge.
The purifier runs on 2AA batteries that last about three months, according to Oransi (I’m using generic batteries and so far it’s still running fine). When you first turn it on, it goes to work for about 20 minutes, using its little patented ion technology to clean the air in your fridge. After the initial cleaning, it runs for a few minutes every two hours. The Oransi Fridge Air Purifier is completely silent and unobtrusive. The only way you really know it’s working without peering into your fridge on schedule is because your fridge doesn’t smell.
