We all know how important it is to recycle. It keeps extra junk out of the landfills and saves on our natural resources. In my case, it also saves me money because I can recycle an unlimited amount of stuff, but can only put out two trash bags full of actual trash on garbage day. We recycle as much as we possibly can, including cat food tins, soda cans, paper (oh the amount of paper that comes through this house!), cardboard, and so on. For the smaller stuff, we usually keep a bag in the cabinet under the sink. It lays on top of the cleaning supplies, spills when we don’t close it right, and generally makes a bit of a mess. With the Hidden Recycler from Rubbermaid, we can contain the mess and still keep it all out of sight.
Features of the Hidden Recycler
- The hinged lid easily attaches to cabinet doors. Also comes with screws for a more permanent installation.
- Bag is made from 65% post-consumer resin, and machine washable to make for easy clean-up
- Use the comfortable handle to carry it from place to place
- 5 gallon bag holds 36 uncrushed cans and is large enough to fit 1 gallon milk jugs
- Perfect for small-space living!
How Does It Work?
Installing the Hidden Recycler was really easy. Just open the package, pop it together, and hang it over your cabinet door. Well, in most cases it’s that easy. We had to go a step further and install it using screws (not included) because it was just a smidge too big around the top. Our cabinet door wouldn’t close right. Once installed, though, it works perfect. The bag collapses, so when it’s empty it doesn’t really take up any space. I was worried that it would knock over all the cleaning supplies, but I didn’t have that issue at all. It holds quite a bit, and the bag can be removed easily to transport everything to the main recycling container outside. The material is thick and durable, so I can definitely see it lasting a long time.
