If you have ever watched your baby (or any baby, for that matter) play with a stuffed animal, you may have noticed that they focus mostly on the tag rather than the animal itself. Tags are endlessly fascinating to chubby little fingers! Paul Oestreicher, a pH.D scientist, realized that when he watched his own children playing with plush toys, and decided to invent a plush that gave his miniature customers exactly what they wanted. Tagsmania was conceived in 1998, but Paul didn’t really move forward on his idea until 2010. Since then, the company has launched over a dozen different designs, including several TagBalls, TagRattles, and a few different animals.
Tagasaurus
Jacob received the Fossil Blue Tagasaurus so we could check out the toys before the Shake Rattle, Roll giveaway event. Although he’s technically not the target audience, he does love stuffed animals and was thrilled to add a cute dinosaur to his collection. Tagasaurus is very soft and just the right size for little hands. The tags run along the top, like a spine. They’re much softer and more pliable than regular tags found on stuffed animals, and the colors complement that of the dinosaur.
While Tagsania was designed for infants and toddlers specifically because this age group has such a fascination with tags, the appeal goes way beyond the baby years. As you can see, Jake loves his Tagasaurus. Plush animals in general are great for encouraging imagination. TagsMania makes a wide variety of TagBalls too. These balls are made entirely of tags, and they provide a great tactile experience for little hands. They’d also be awesome for playing catch indoors. Yes, I know, Mom always said don’t play ball in the house, but hey, sometimes its fun!
TagsMania won a whopping five awards from Creative Child Magazine, including Top Toy of the Year 2011 in both Baby Developmental Toys and Interactive Plush Toys. Since they’re designed by scientist with a pH.D, they’re made with the utmost safety standards in mind. They meet or exceed all safety regulations set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.
