Last night, I was really craving something chocolately, but I didn’t feel like running to the store to grab something. I found a site, SuperCook, that lets you plug in the ingredients you have on hand, and it returns a list of everything you can make with those ingredients.

I had cocoa powder, flour, sugar, and eggs, but since I’m not exactly much of a creative cook, I had no idea what I could do with them. One of the recipes that came up was from for Chocolate Brownie Cookies from RecipeZaar. I changed it a bit to make it a little sweeter, and I’m actually pretty proud that my slight modifications went over well, considering I’ve never improvised much before on a recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2.5 cups sugar
  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Grease cookie sheets.
  3. Mix all ingredients in a medium-sized metal mixing bowl until well-blended
  4. Drop batter onto greased cookie sheet by teaspoonfuls.
  5. Bake 8-10 minutes.
  6. Remove with a metal spatula and allow cookies to cool before transferring them to container.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies, depending on how big you make them.
