I’ve always been a fan of Hallmark for cool holiday decorations, but until recently I never realized how much fun stuff they have for Halloween. Many years ago, I used to go all out decorating for Halloween, but then we moved to a place where kids never come, and it didn’t seem logical to spend the money. Jacob wants me to start decorating more, though, so I’m trying to get more into it again for him.

I received some really fun stuff from Hallmark to help make decorating easy and fun! We received the Genevieve Ruffles My Pet Ghost, the Witch’s Hat Door Decor, and a lovely selection of Halloween cards for friends and family.

My Pet Ghost

Genevieve Ruffles and her friends have over 400 years experience in haunting the living! Don’t worry, she’s completely friendly and very sweet. She seems quite content to live in a bottle, especially since she has such fancy digs in there. At first glance, the bottle appears empty.

With the push of a button, though, Genevieve comes out to play. She says several different phrases, so it’s a surprise every time! You don’t have to be in a dark room to see her, but you can see the detail of the “house” a little better in low lighting. I’m not a videographer, so I know my video isn’t going to win an Oscar or anything, but I wanted to give you a good idea of what she looked like.

Witch’s Hat Door Decor

I love the Witch’s Hat! It’s a motion-activated decoration that projects the witches face onto the door as she cackles at your guests. My front door has a screen door in front of it, so it’s not ideal for decorations. Plus, the only people who ever come to my house are UPS and FedEx, and they’re not here late enough to really get the whole effect. I have a perfect spot right inside my front door area, though, so I hung her there.

When no one is moving, the hat looks like a cute yet unassuming decoration. As you walk by, it lights up and the witch shows up. This picture was taken right as the hat was coming to life.

Again, you get the best effect in the dark, so I did a little video to show her in action. Sorry for the graininess, I’ve said it a million times, I really need a better camera! I also need a steadier hand!

If you decide to keep the Witch’s Hat Door Decor indoors, I suggest turning her off at night, especially if you have dogs! My dogs kept rough housing and setting her off. Cooper was a little freaked out when she first went off, but he seems used to her now. Jacob was so surprised when he walked in and set her off! He got on the phone with his cousin and insisted on playing it for him to hear.
