Raise Money for Breast Cancer Awareness With A SleepPink Party #EstrovenPink

Friday night, I had a Sleep Pink Party in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was a pretty low-key event, with just me, my mom, and my aunt (who didn’t want her picture online. It took some doing, but I got my mom to let me post hers) hanging out watching girly movies that we haven’t seen in a while. It was fun to get together and just have a “girls night!” The event was sponsored by Estroven. As part of their sleeppink program, Estroven will make a donation to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer for every photo of a Sleep Pink party submitted during the month of October. I think that’s pretty awesome, and a super easy way to raise money for breast cancer research!

During the party, we lounged around on the sofa chatting and watching movies. None of us are big drinkers, but we still have a ton of leftover tequila from my brother’s wedding shower party, so we decided to each have a drink. We went with Sal’s creation: a tequila sunrise in which the “sunrise” is cherry Kool-Aid. Hey, it actually works really well when you don’t have grenadine in the house! Plus it’s really pretty!

Here is me in my pink pajamas. I don’t really own much pink, so the skull jammies are pretty much it! Okay, so only my bottoms are pink, but that counts, right? I had on pink fuzzy socks most of the night too, but then my feet got too hot.

My mom, enjoying some popcorn and watching movies in her pink jammies. She actually owns quite a bit of pink!

Since my family is reluctant to have their pictures up when they’re not all made up and what not, we got my dog Maia in on the fun. She loves all the extra affection that she gets when we have company.Note the pink blanket on my mom’s lap.

While the party was meant to be a fun experience (and it was), the cause behind it is very important. Just about every woman is in some way affected by breast cancer. Whether you deal with it personally or know someone else who is going through it, there are very few degrees of separation between breast cancer and each of us. Fortunately, when detected early, the survival rates are very high. That’s why it’s so important to have regular screenings.

During the month of October, Estroven is providing women with the necessary tools to host a Sleep Pink-themed party on SleepPink.com. The site will allow party hosts to upload photographs of their events, and for every photo, the company will pledge $100 to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It will also provide information to help organize the Sleep Pink parties including downloadable invitations, menopause-friendly
drink and food recipe suggestions, as well as décor and entertainment ideas.
