If there’s one thing I love doing, it’s planning my imaginary dream vacation. Right now, times are tough, but I know someday everything is going to fall into place and my dream vacation will become a reality. I’ve planned many vacations to many locales, as there are just tons of places I want to visit. At the top of my list right now is Hawaii. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it’s freezing cold out, or maybe it’s the allure of ocean and the really cool volcanoes, but Honolulu has moved way up my list of places to see before I croak. For this post, I got to check out Gogobot and see how it could help make my dream a reality.
Planning My Dream Trip With Gogobot
Finding a Hotel
Obviously, the first thing I’m going to need to do when I arrive in sunny Honolulu is check into my hotel so I can unload my 500 bags (hey, I’m a girl, I don’t travel light!). But where to stay? Well, since it’s a dream vacation, I’m choosing the swankiest place I can find. Definitely a 5-star resort! From the Honolulu hotels page I selected only those with 5 stars, which gave me three results. That’s a pretty narrow list! Hey, I have activities to plan, I don’t want to spend all day comparing amenities!
While all three of the 5-star hotels were pretty amazing, the Royal Hawaiian just looked the most like a Hawaiian dream hotel. I love the character, the shape and flow of the building. The other two were more like plain sky scrapers. Cool, but not what I want in my dream vacation.
Choosing Places to Eat
Since I imagine I’m going to have a long flight to Honolulu from the East Coast, I’m definitely going to be hungry when I arrive! I’m a super picky eater, so let’s see how Gogobot handles that! They had over 500 results for restaurants in Honolulu! Eek! Time to narrow that down by cuisine. Well, I know I like Italian food, so I’ll just look for that. But wait! Oh my goodness, they even break it down into categories like “bakeries,” “crepes,” and “ice-cream!” Okay, stop thinking dessert and start thinking actual restaurants. Dessert later.
After realizing that I can get Italian food anywhere, I opted for barbecue. They have to have chicken, right? Tiki’s Gill & Bar looks cute! I added that to my trip!
Okay, so back to dessert. Now, I know from Hawaii Five-0 that shaved ice is all the rage in Hawaii, but honestly, I’m more of a regular ice-cream type of girl. I’m thinking I need to hit Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream and Desserts. I don’t think I’ve ever had authentic homemade ice-cream!
Places to Go, Things to See: Planning the Fun Activities
This is where it really gets fun (and a little overwhelming because I get so excited!). Obviously, I can’t go to Hawaii without heading to the beach at least once (or twelve times). Now, I know that the Waikiki Beach is rated number one on Gogobot, but I prefer something maybe a little less crowded. I’m thinking the Hanauma Bay Marine Preserve would be a nice, quiet place to start. According to the reviews, it’s great for people who have never been snorkeling before but would like to try.

I couldn’t find volcanoes listed under places to go, which was a little disappointing, but I did find this gorgeous place called Nuuanu Pali Lookout:
There were so many other places that I would love to visit, and added them all to my trip. I’m going to have to spend at least a month in Honolulu so I can see everything! Once I’m done adding stuff, I can view my whole trip and come up with my dream itinerary. I had so much fun planning my dream vacation on Gogobot that I’m going to plan more trips!
