Like most boys his age, Jacob is a massive Skylanders Giants™ fan. He actually started with the original Skylanders (I think they’re calling them Series 1 now), and just when I thought we finally had all of them, they came out with the Giants line and we started all over! Now, to take the fun even further, Mega Bloks® has created a line of Skylanders Giants, including the brand new Zeppelin Air Assault set, featuring the ultra-awesome Eye-Brawl. It’s kind of fitting, really, since Skylanders brought toys into the gaming world, and now Mega Bloks® is bringing them back out!
About the Mega Bloks® Skylanders Giants™ Zeppelin Air Assault
Grab the cannon and take aim – Eye Brawl needs to shoot down an attacking Drow Zeppelin with Zeppelin Air Ship Assault by Mega Bloks Skylanders GiantsTM. The buildable Drow Zeppelin is an aerial menace to Skylanders everywhere. Eye-Brawl’s got his eye on it and needs to use his cannon to shoot the Zeppelin down to deal with the collectible translucent Troll Greasemonkey pilot.
Build the Zeppelin and Eye-Brawl (complete with detachable eye, just like in the game!), then get ready to fire on the rotten Greasemonkey troll. The cannon really fires! The set can be played on its own, or combine it with other Mega Bloks Skylanders GiantsTM sets to build your adventure!
Assembling the Zeppelin Air Assault Set
Those who know me are well aware that I am not exactly the most patient person when it comes to assembling these types of things…or anything really. I’m not a big fan of putting things together! I rate the ease of assembly on how many times I either curse or cry when crafting the item. With the Mega Bloks® Skylanders Giants™ Zeppelin Air Assault, my language remained family-friendly throughout (although I may have blurted out one or two very mild words that are safe for, say, kid’s afternoon shows). I didn’t cry once! I did have to take it all apart after about the 4th step and start over because I misread the instructions.
I find it easiest to sort all the pieces right away, and since there were a manageable 133 pieces to this set (including the parts for Eye-Brawl himself and the Greasemonkey troll), that took less than 5 minutes. Oh, if you’re thinking by this point “isn’t the kid supposed to assemble it?” well, that’s just not going to happen. Jacob makes me put the sets together, then he reaps the benefits by playing with it. That’s just how it it goes right now in our house. I’m really hoping that soon he’ll be doing the hard part himself.
It took less than an hour to put it together, which I think is a record for me!
Once it was done, Jacob swooped in for his part- the playing. He just got Eye-Brawl for the game, so he was super excited about playing with this set. He has one other Mega Bloks® Skylanders Giants™ kit, and he combined the two for a more exciting play time. Don’t ask why his clothes don’t match, I’m sure there was a very good reason for it that day.
The Zeppelin Air Assault surprised me by staying together really well once it was assembled! I get really frustrated (and sometimes, yes, I cry) when I spend hours putting something together only to have it all fall apart five minutes later. I love how the Mega Bloks® blocks really seem to click into place quite well. They have great staying power!
