Did you know that it’s been 500 years since Ponce de Leon first explored Florida looking for the fountain of youth? While he may not have found the literal fountain, it’s hard to deny that all the fun things to do in Florida can keep you feeling young for a lifetime! I’ve been to Florida several times throughout my life and have many fond memories.

When I was a teenager, my aunt and uncle were stationed in Orlando. My uncle was in the Navy. I used to go down for a few weeks in the summer. Since he was Navy, he often got great deals to different area attractions. We went to all the major parks and a few “off-the-beaten-path” locations. Spending time with them, along with my cousins, is one of my favorite childhood memories.

I’ve also been to other places in Florida. I’ve been to the gorgeous Sanibel Island as a kid and visited my brother in West Palm Beach a few days before Jacob was born. I am looking forward to going back to visit again one day!

Florida’s 500 Years of Adventure Sweepstakes

500 Years of Adventure in Florida

With the Florida’s 500 Years of Adventure Sweepstakes, maybe I can get back there sooner than later! All year long, VISIT FLORIDA is showing off the best of the best that Florida has to offer. Even better, they’re giving you (and me) a chance to win one of many awesome vacation packages! The packages vary, but typically include Hertz car rentals, hotel accommodations, and tickets or admittance to fun activities in the area.

I would love to win the Key West Escape! I’ve never been to the Keys, but I hear they’re beautiful. Hanging out by the pool in the Southernmost Hotel in the USA and exploring the Old Key West would be the perfect way to spend a few days of my summer vacation.
