Halloween is about the candy. We all know that. No one is saying do away with the candy. In fact, that would be a tragedy! I’m saying that maybe, just maybe, you can find a way to still give something that tastes like candy yet is a whole lot better for you. Be that one person who slips something different into the mix. If you’re planning to go the healthier route, may I highly recommend going with KIND bars? Let me tell you, these are good! Like knock your proverbial socks off good! I was actually pretty surprised at how amazing they taste, considering they have only 4 grams of sugar per serving! Hey, I admit it, I’m pretty fond of my sugar!
KIND bars are completely different than anything I’ve ever tried. I’m super SUPER picky about anything that I even think is a protein bar. Bad experiences! I tried a KIND bar once a few months ago by accident and discovered I liked it. When asked if I wanted to try some of their bars for a review, I was totally on board, especially when I saw the Nuts & Spices varieties!
Totally Nuts for KIND Nuts & Spices!
The Nuts & Spices varieties include:
- Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan
- Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt
- Dark Chocolate Chili Almond
- Madagascar Vanilla Almond
- Maple Glazed Pecan & Sea Salt
- Cashew & Ginger Spice
My favorite? Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt by a landslide. Holy freaking cow, these are beyond amazing! At first, you taste the nutty goodness, followed by a burst of rich dark chocolate. Then the sea salt kicks in and it goes from “that’s pretty yummy” to “Back off! Those are mine!!!!” Yes, I refused to share this one. Yes, I am selfish. You know what? I share 95% of the stuff I review with someone in this house. Everyone once in a while, I hoard things for myself. Does that make me a bad person? I don’t think so! If so, well I don’t care because guess what? I still got to eat both of the Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt KIND bars, so NYA (or however you spell that sound).
My second favorite was the Dark Chocolate Chili Almond. Pretty much assume that if a food has the word “dark chocolate” in it, it’s going to appear on my list of “favorites.” This was a completely different experience than my beloved DCN&SS. Once upon a time, I though the concept of mixing chocolate and spicy chili pepper was just bizarre. Almost akin to letting the gravy touch your sweet potato casserole on Thanksgiving. Yes, I am one of those weird “don’t let certain foods touch otherwise dinner is ruined” people. Are you really that surprised, giving all my other weird habits? Like all things that I thought I’d never like but end up loving it, I tried it by accident. Now, like the Roswell aliens (from the CW TV show) I love sweet and spicy. Dark Chocolate Chili Almond KIND bars are the perfect mix of delicious sweetness with a spicy kick.
All the other bars were fantastic as well. The only one that I’m not totally on board with is the Cashew & Ginger Spice. Turns out that combination is not my thing. I think if you love ginger, though, it could be yours. I suggest trying them all and deciding for yourself. I also suggest hoarding the DCN&SS. I won’t tell anyone.
So what do these amazing bars have to do with Halloween and Trick or Treating? Well, I’m suggesting that you get a nice box of them and hand them out to parents. Kids will enjoy them too, but parents don’t get nearly enough goodies on Halloween. We buy the costumes and do all the driving, why can’t we go Trick or Treating too? If they’re outside your candy budget for the big holiday, grab a box and Trick or Treat yourself.
