Aveeno Eczema Care Kit

October is National Eczema Awareness Month. For those with this condition, they’re already entirely to aware of how difficult it is to deal with. My son’s father has dealt with eczema flare-ups for most of his life. Since it runs in the family, I’ve always been really cautious about what I use on Jacob’s skin. I’m worried that he’s starting to develop it as well. Last year, I noticed a bumpy rash running up his arm. It wasn’t caused by any logical external source that I could find, like a bug bite, poison Ivy, or anything along those lines. It stayed for weeks, then vanished. This past summer, the same thing happened.

Ever since Jacob was a baby, I’ve tried to use the gentlest products I could find. While I don’t have eczema, I do have extremely dry skin that is incredibly sensitive to harsh lotions. For me, the worst part is the “trunk” of my body, especially my back. I’m very self-conscious about this because I have a condition called tinea versicolor, which causes raised brownish and red spots all over my stomach, back and sometimes parts of my arms. So yeah, we’re pretty careful about what we use on our skin. In fact, I recently used a no-name brand of body wash and paid the price dearly with massive red patches all over my body! Lesson totally learned!

Soothe symptoms with the Aveeno Eczema Therapy Kit

Aveeno has always been my go-to source for the gentlest skin care products. I love their Eczema Therapy Bath Treatment made with colloidal oatmeal. Oatmeal is one of the most soothing things ever when you have dry, itchy skin! Opening a packet of Aveeno Bath Treatment is way easier- and less messy!- than dumping regular old instant oatmeal in your tub. Trust me, I’ve tried it. I was really surprised at how quickly it dissolves into the water, leaving you with this amazingly soft bathing experience. When you’re done soaking (you shouldn’t soak too long if you have eczema, by the way), just pull the plug and it all goes down the drain without leaving clumps behind!

After you get out, use the Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream included in the kit to help lock in moisture. The cream is scent-free and dye-free. It also contains colloidal oatmeal. It’s so gentle yet incredibly soothing. It really helped calm down my itchy skin! Plus it left it feeling so much more moisturized and soft.

Check out my video testimonial! I really don’t like the way I sound in video, but I’m trying to get more comfortable in front of the camera!

There is no “cure” for eczema. Nothing will ever make it go away entirely. Aveeno helps tame the worst of the symptoms, though, and lets you get back to living your life. I don’t know about you, but being itchy is one of the worst physical sensations in the world. Honestly, I’d rather deal with pain than itchiness, and trust me, as a chronic pain sufferer, I’ve dealt with both.
