I received free coupons for Dole products in exchange for this post. However, it is a cause I believe strongly in. All opinions are my own.
I come from a huge military family. My uncle and all three of his sons have served (the youngest is currently a Marine!). My grandfather was the Navy way back at the end of WWII and my son’s father’s family is full of ex-military members. I am very passionate about supporting our heroes. Especially those who have returned from tours in hostile nations and are dealing with the fallout of those tours. Whether it’s a physical wound or emotional devastation, all our Wounded Warriors deserve extra care!
Now through Veteran’s Day (November 11th), Dole Foods is calling on all of us to get involved in helping “Believe in Heroes,” part of the Wounded Warrior Project. Until the end of November, you can download a $1.00 off any DOLE Canned Fruit coupon at the Believe in Heroes website along with other great grocery coupons.
About Wounded Warrior Project
Founded in 2003, Wounded Warrior Project was created to honor and empower service members returning from post-9/11 conflicts who have been injured mentally and/or physically. Its purpose is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members; to help injured service members aid and assist each other; and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.
The Project is so important because it helps those returning from conflicts in many ways. An estimated 48,000 men and women have been wounded in recent conflicts. The Believe in Heroes campaign was started as a way to help Americans show support of our heroes simply by doing something they do every week- grocery shopping. You’re already going to the store, why not make that trip count for something other than just feeding your family? Check out the Wounded Warrior Facebook app to learn more.
Heaven’s Delight recipe with Dole Crushed Pineapples
With the holidays rapidly approaching, it’s easy to support the military by purchasing Dole items. My mom makes a great dessert for Thanksgiving called Heaven’s Delight. It calls for several large cans of crushed pineapple, so we’ll be stocking up! Want to know how to make it? It’s super easy! I don’t have a picture right now, but I’ll tell you how to do it.
Ingredients:
- 2 bags of mini marshmallows
- 2 large cans of Dole crushed pineapple
- 1 quart half and half
Directions:
Start a layer of marshmallows. Add a layer of pineapple. Repeat. Pour half and half over top. Refrigerate over night, stirring every so often until the marshmallows soak up the pineapple juice and half & half. Eat.

I learned that I can form my own team for this! Awesome!
“WWP takes a holistic approach when serving warriors and their families to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.” I think this is great!
I learned that there is family support and retreats for WW and familes!
I learned that FILIS, is their mascot with each finger standing for a Wounded Warrior core value, they are value – fun, integrity, loyalty, innovation, and service., and it is the WWP to live out each core value in daily work.
Learned one of the programs is to help provide support by getting other veterans in touch with those with similar injuries.
