My thoughts on Glistening Rebellion
I actually had to start with Glistening Haven so I could catch up before reading this book. I don’t like to start in the middle of the series. I received both books for review, so that worked out well. For those who have read the first book, I won’t bog you down with details. Those who haven’t, you can check out all the reviews on Amazon. In Glistening Haven, Jenna is pretty much ready to retire and live some semblance of a normal life. She just has one last job to do. Now, if you’ve read ANY book in the world (or even watched a movie in your life), you know that “one last job” somehow ends up being harder than all the other jobs that ever came before it. That’s pretty much true in Glistening Rebellion.
Don’t let that make you think this is a stereotypical book though. It’s not all all. The Glistenings are completely unlike any other being, making this series an interesting combination of dystopian, paranormal, sci-fi and suspense. It’s in a genre all its own really. Oh, and don’t forget action. There is PLENTY of that! These books are both so fast-paced, you won’t want to put them down for fear of missing something! Seriously, if they were a movie, you’d never get up to go to the bathroom.
I admire that Cooper managed to create two sides that are both almost equally exquisite, making it difficult to define which side is the absolute “right” side to be on. I feel for all the characters. This is seriously an outstanding book that you really shouldn’t miss. Just do yourself a favor and start with Glistening Haven first. Even though you get a bit of back story in the beginning of this one, it’s definitely worth starting from the first book. I have an excerpt from Glistening Haven from last year’s tour. Check it out!
