If you’re a Firefly fan, I really didn’t have to put that little disclaimer in the title. The “Shiny” should have given it away. Still, just in case, I thought I should clarify! If you’re not a fan but happen to know one, “shiny” doesn’t refer to the gleam of metal. It’s like “awesome,” or “cool.” You know, it’s shiny!
I LOVE Firefly. The funny thing is, I didn’t watch it when it first aired. I was too ticked off at Whedon for ending Angel on such a crappy note that I ignored him like an insolent teenager for a bit. Then one day, I caught a bit of the first episode on Sci-Fi, you know, back when it was still the Sci-Fi channel and not that weird Sy-Fy thing they have going on. It happened to be a marathon. Fourteen hours later, I ordered the complete series (which, sadly, was way too short) on DVD. An instant Firefly fangirl was born. I’ve watched the series at least a dozen times since that day.
10 Shiny Gift Ideas for Firefly Fans
I went through a ton of different gift ideas for Firefly fans to find the ones I would want myself. Then I had to narrow THAT long list down to just ten. Seriously, there are dozens of t-shirts alone on RedBubble that I want! These are what I came up with. Let me know if you think I missed anything totally shiny that should be on this list. These are affiliate links, by the way. Which means if you buy something, I may make enough money off your purchase to buy my son a pack of bubble gum! Hey, gum is expensive these day!
Done The Impossible: The Fans’ Tale of Firefly & Serenity
Firefly is the show that never should have been canceled. Sadly, it was on FOX, which has a habit of canceling really great shows without giving them a chance. This DVD chronicles the rise and fall, as well as the rebirth, of Firefly. It is told from the perspective of the hardcore fans who passionately endeavored to try to save Firefly. It also features loads of celeb appearances (who were also fans) and interactive features like a trivia game. It is seriously just loaded with good stuff!
Serenity – Firefly Metal Keychain
Everyone needs a little Serenity in their pocket! With this solid-metal keychain, now you can have just that. This shiny gift idea for Firefly fans was replicated using the show’s special effect files to give it authenticity.

Forget Monopoly, if I’m going to play a card game, let it be this one! Face Reavers with Mal and the crew, thwart the alliance and do your best to keep on flyin’.
Firefly (Original Television Soundtrack)
The musical score from Firefly is both haunting and gorgeous, old and futurist. Basically, the perfect companion to the show. This CD features composer Greg Edmonson’s guitat-based score as well as exclusive bonus tracks.
Quantum Mechanix Firefly: Mal Reynolds’ Metal-Plated Pistol Replica
This is a super cool replica of Mal’s sidearm, cast in polystone and weathered to match the show’s original prop. While you won’t be using it to take down the Alliance, it’s still pretty cool to keep on a shelf or desk!
I’m a Leaf on the Wind T-Shirt
I have this t-shirt from RedBubble and love it. It’s so comfortable! Also a great conversation-started for when you encounter those who’ve never had the pleasure of staying up all hours of the night watching Firefly marathons!
The Good, the Bad and the Shiny iPad Case
If you have an iPad, you need a Firefly case! There are plenty of different ones to choose from, but I really like this one.
Curse Your Sudden But Inevitable Betrayal
Love this framed print! It was such a simple, random scene in the show but still ended up being one of the most quoted and popular.
