In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’m sharing something a little different, a song from one of Sal’s favorite bands, Disturbed. Have you heard Disturbed’s cover of Simon & Garfunkle’s “Sound of Silence” yet? It’s been in the Top 10 iTunes video chart for over a month now, not to mention the #1 song download in the Hard Rock category. Check it out:

The song appears on their new album, Immortalized, which ended the group’s 4-year hiatus last August and became the band’s fifth consecutive album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. While I’m more of a punk rock girl, I have to say, their cover of “The Sound of Silence” is beautifully done and really bridges both generation and genre gaps. In the four years that Sal and I have been together, I’ve learned to compromise when it comes to the car playlist (probably not nearly as much as I should, 99.9% of the music is still my stuff). If you’re a punk rock girl with a hard rock boyfriend, Disturbed is one of the best compromises.
The band just kicked off their North American headline tour, and are on tour throughout 2016, including co-headline dates with Rob Zombie, co-headline dates with Breaking Benjamin, as well as a bunch of festival headlining slots (including a few with the punk band Pennywise). Check out tour dates and more about Disturbed on their official site. Follow them on Twitter for updates on their shows.
