Considering Jacob’s birth story, I feel like I put in a lifetime of blood and tears in just the first few minutes of his life. He was born via emergency c-section at 32 weeks. As if that’s not challenging enough, he was full breech, the cord wrapped around his upper arm and they snapped his little bone pulling him out.  I thought I still had close to two months to prepare for motherhood and here I was with an itty bitty wounded preemie. I had no choice but to be a tough mother for him.
