My family takes part in a lot of whimsical traditions throughout the year. Elves at Christmas time, leprechaun traps for St. Paddy’s Day, and fairy gardens in the summer. These activities are fun for kids young and old. When I saw this Irish Fairy Door I was excited to check it out. Thank you to the Irish Fairy Door Company for sending it in exchange for an honest review!
The Irish Fairy Door: Start a New Tradition in Your Family!
The Irish Fairy Door Company is out of Dublin, Ireland. No really, it is! They handcraft fairy doors in various colors and designs to help relocate fairies into homes and gardens across the world. Our specific Irish Fairy Door is about 12 centimeters tall and painted green with a natural wood trim. There is a small shamrock affixed to the center and small pearly white beaded doorknob.
These little doors are not short of sweet, whimsical details. Each one comes with:
- 1 magic key in a bottle
- 3 wooden stepping stones
- 1 family and fairy lease agreement
- 1 notepad for your fairy
- 1 Fairy Welcome Guide
Once we decided on a good spot for our Irish Fairy Door, we stuck up on the wall and got busy reading up and what we needed to know about our new houseguest. We each signed the family lease agreement that outlines all of the fairy and family responsibilities. Finally, we left out the small bottle with the key for our fairy and waited until morning.
There are some really good ideas for decorating the area around the fair door and you can even purchase additional accessories to jazz it up a bit. The Irish Fairy Door Company includes an online code to register your fairy name. Parents will also get regular emails that include stories and activity ideas.
My kids woke up to a note from their fairy introducing herself and they’re excited to see how she comes and goes. The key of course was missing from the bottle.
I’ve really enjoyed playing the part and thinking of clever activities. Parents can choose how often and how active their fairy is and I really think these are the little things that create lifelong memories for kids.
