Dogs are meant to live big, joyous lives—full of little moments that count every single day. From chasing leaves in the backyard while you do yard work to taking great pleasure in systematically destroying every single “indestructible” toy you bring home, it’s the little (and sometimes crazy) moments that really make being a puppy parent so amazing.

Treasuring those little moments is even more important to me than ever. As many of you know, we lost my two older girls last year. Last week, we lost my old boy. Freya is now an only dog. At just 6 months old, she’s never been alone before. She went from a home with her siblings to living with Cooper. She misses “brother” as much as we do.

I want Freya to live a long and healthy life, like her “sisters” and “brother” before her. That’s why I make sure I feed her the best possible food. One of the top foods in her rotation is Nature’s Recipe Grain-Free kibble. It’s made from nature’s best ingredients, to help my dog live a natural, healthy life. I love the resealable bag! It fits perfectly into my favorite Metal Dog Food Containers and stays fresh through the last bite!
In addition to providing my dog with the best nutrition possible, I like to sprinkle special activities throughout the week to help her get the most of out every moment with us.
Here are a few activitiesI am planning to do with Freya that you can do to make every moment count this spring:
1. CAPTURE THE MOMENT
The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and the weather is gorgeous. Take advantage by taking your dog out on a stroll snapping a photo of him enjoying nature. I try to choose new routes as often as possible. We live on a hill, which isn’t great on my back, so I drive Freya down to the lake and pick a new road to travel each time. We always start and end by the water. She loves seeing the swans!
2. PLAY YOUR DOG’S FAVORITE GAME
Now that the sun is out, I really want to take Freya to our local dog park. It will give her an opportunity to interact with his friends and make new ones. We also spend a lot of time in our backyard. She LOVES playing fetch. Okay, so she’s still mastering the “bring it back” part, but she’s almost there! She reminds me of Tasha so much because she can play in the backyard with her people for hours!
3. PLAN A CAMPING TRIP
My son and husband really want to go camping this year. I’m not sure if they’re kidding. I know Jake isn’t, but Rich may be. Me? I’m a horrible camper. I do, however, like the IDEA of camping. I’d love to take Freya to a camp site for all the activities that go along with it, let her visit a new place and explore the scents that fill the air during this time of year. Then, when it’s time for bed, we can come home and let the boys hang out!

Since I decided to give Nature’s Recipe a try, it has become one of my dog’s favorite way of starting the day and refueling after an adventure. Nature’s Recipe is nutritious, affordable, and easy to find at Walmart (which is amazing, since it’s so hard to find good grain-free food outside of a pet store usually), Kroger, and Meijer. Check out the website to see which of your local retailers carries Nature’s recipe [www.naturesrecipe.com/where-buy], and see how it helps you and your dog make every moment count.
