Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has a fun activity to do with you and your family that is sure to be a blast! In honor of the August 6 DVD & Digital release of The Swan Princess: Kingdom of Music. Check out the tutorials below (click on the pics for a larger view and to print them out). When you’re done whipping up your own instruments, turn your camera to video mode and record your very own music video!
Ready to rock n’ roll? Start rummaging through your house to find all the items listed in the instructions for each of these DIY musical instruments (shown in order of difficulty).
DIY Water Bottle Maraca
For this fun DIY musical instrument, you just need to dig an empty water bottle out of your recycling (or down some H20 now and use the bottle, because let’s be honest, we all need a little more hydration on these hot days). Then, toss in some noise makers (uncooked beans work great!) and let kids go to town painting them.
DIY Cardboard Box Guitar
How cute is this DIY guitar? I bet you have most of the supplies in a junk drawer, right?
Jean Bob Frog Castanet
I think this is the trickiest one to make, so your kids may need your help. Still, if you want an activity that will take a little longer, it’s a fun one!
While all of the activities were designed for kids ages 6+ due to small beads and pieces, if you want to let younger kids in on the fun, let them paint the bottles or decorate the boxes, then your older kids can put it all together.
