About Hubie Halloween

Hubie Dubois, played by Sandler, spends every Halloween trying to ensure that his fellow Salem residents enjoy the holiday safely and, most important of all, play by the rules. Yes, he’s that guy. It’s a thankless job, but someone has to do it, right? Between an escaped criminal and a strange new neighbor, Hubie’s nerves are on high alert. When people start vanishing, Hubie has his work cut out for him trying to convince the cops and fellow neighbors that something foul is afoot and only he can stop it.

The family-friendly flick is produced by Sandler’s company, Happy Madison, and features an all-star cast, including Kevin James, Maya Rudolph,Shaquille O’Neal, . Ray Liotta, and- of course, Steve Buscemi. It wouldn’t be an Adam Sandler flick without Buscemi, now would it?

While Sandler’s Netflix Originals have, honestly, been hit or miss for me (I loved Murder Mystery, but couldn’t get into some of his others, and I’m a huge fan), Hubie Halloween looks like it’ll definitely be in the “hit” column, at least as far as my own movie tastes go.

I love that it’s truly family friendlyin the sense that the whole family will actually like it. Too often, I find that it  means “your kids will love it and you’ll suffer slightly less than you would if watching, say, Barney.” I’m really looking forward to it!

The movie marks the last in Sandler’s original 2014 contract with Netflix, according to Indiewire. Don’t worry, though; Sandler re-upped with them back in January, committing to four more films. Indiewire also notes that Sandler has an animated show in the works for the streaming service. Interesting!
