STROUDSBURG, Pennsylvania: Dana Smithers, 45, vanished from her Stroudsburg neighborhood on May 28th, 2022, without her phone, car, purse, or anxiety medications. Family and friends fear the worst and are desperate to find her. Her family is now offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the discovery of her whereabouts.

Forty-five year old Dana Smithers of Stroudsburg Borough in Pennsylvania has been missing since Memorial Day weekend. She was last seen on a Ring Camera leaving a friend’s home on Stokes Ave, just three houses away from her own house. She never returned home.

She left behind her car, purse, and cellphone. She also left her anxiety medications, which she takes “religiously” for 10 years, according to friends and family. Her sister Stacey has filed a missing persons report with the police.

Dana has long & curly dark brown hair and brown eyes and is about 5’5″. She was last seen wearing a burgundy t-shirt and black jeans.

A personal plea:

I wanted to share the impartial and unbiased “known facts” first. I thought it would be easier to get this noticed by the right people if I approached it without emotion.

Now, I’d like to share a personal plea. Dana is my best friend, and one of the very best people that I know. She is the kind of person who would drop everything to help a stranger in need, and would literally move mountains to help loved ones.

She’s quick to smile, laughs out loud (REALLY out loud!), and her vivacious personality just fills every room that she enters with so much brightness and joy. She can turn a stranger in line into a friend for life with a single conversation. We all miss her and are desperate to bring her home.

If you live in or near the Poconos, vacation in this area, or even drive through here occasionally, PLEASE share this. Share with anyone that you know that lives in or around the area. Please help find Dana.

6/22/22 Update: It’s been over three weeks since Dana vanished and still nothing. The PA State Police are now assisting in the search, according to several local news sources.

8/8/2022 Update: It’s been 70+ days since Dana was taken from her family and friends. Yes, TAKEN. In my opinion as her friend for 20 years, I do not believe for one moment that she walked out the door voluntarily and vanished into nothingness.

We need to keep sharing this. We need to be as loud as possible about it so that those in a position with the tools and the training to solve this crime keep on top of this. Don’t allow them to forget her. Don’t allow them to toss her file into a cold case drawer and call it a day. .

Someone out there knows something. Speak up. Please.
