I received Adventure Time: Jake the Dad on DVD in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

JakeTheDad_Finn

What time is it? Adventure Time! If you said that in the appropriate voice, you know what show I’m talking about! This is by far one of my favorite shows that Jacob watches, along with The Regular Show. I remember catching it on television one evening while Jake was watching and asking “what on earth is that???” He explained the premise to me and I was intrigued, so I watched it for a bit. Now, I look forward to it!

What is Adventure Time?

If you’re not up on all the coolest shows on Cartoon Network, let me tell you a bit about Adventure Time. The show follows the adventures of Jake and Finn. Jake is a human boy and Finn is a dog who also happens to be Jake’s brother. Right away, you can see the appeal for my son, also named Jake (who happens to have a dog that I call his brother, although his name is Cooper, not Finn). Jake and Finn live in the Land of Ooo. Other characters include Princess Bubblegum, the Ice King and Marceline the Vampire Queen. Finn used to have a major thing for Princess Bubblegum, something that is evident quite often. She’s the ruler of the Candy Kingdom, which makes her a frequent target for the Ice King.

Lady Raincorn

Jake’s love interest is Lady Raincorn, who happens to be one of my favorite characters. Although she rarely speaks English, she’s jut so darn pretty! She’s like a unicorn that mated with a Dachsund or something! Bizarre? Yes, but in case you haven’t noticed, bizarre is the new normal when it comes to cool kids shows!

Need a little more convincing before you rush out to the nearest movie retailer? Fine, but only because you asked nicely. Here’s what you get on Adventure Time: Jake the Dad DVD:

  • 16 episodes, including the titular Jake the Dad and 15 other awesome tales. Additional episodes include Burning Low, Gotcha!, Son of Mars, BMO Noire and more. I’m not going to list them all out for you. Unless you want me to. If it’s that important, let me know and next time I’ll be sure to do it!
  • Little Did You Know character special feature
  • A really cool hat!

Let’s talk about that hat for a moment. Better yet, let me show it to you. Jake was super SUPER excited about it. Even though it was like 90 degrees the day it came, he still insisted on wearing it.

That’s his excited face! Okay, so it’s his “mom, I was really excited five minutes ago, but then you stuck me against a wall and took 30 pictures” face. Still, he was outrageously stoked about the Adventure Time Jake hat. At least I know I don’t have to fight with him to wear his hat this winter! Seriously, that alone is worth the cost of the DVD. Speaking of cost, the suggested retail price is $24.98. It would be worth it alone, but trust me, the hat totally increases the value. You need that hat!
