I received a complimentary Buoy chair in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I want to tell you about one of the coolest chairs I’ve ever seen: the Buoy by Turnstone. What makes this chair so cool? So many things! Let’s start with a bit of a back story. My son is an avid gamer. He takes after his mama. Before he was born and I had this magical thing called “time,” I used to spend a lot of time playing video games. In fact, whenever a new Final Fantasy came out, it wasn’t uncommon to find me glued to the controller for 12 hours a day until I beat it!
I don’t let Jake play for 12 hours a day (um, unless he and his friends are having some sort of marathon on double XP weekends, then I bend the rules) but I’m also not really one to limit him to 30 minutes. I don’t feel I have to because he’s so active when he plays.
That’s where the Buoy comes in. See, my son never stops moving when he’s playing a video game. Ever. Even when he’s sitting down. The Buoy is great because it lets him keep moving while also giving him a break from standing. While it isn’t targeted towards gamers, I think every avid gamer should have one because it actually MAKES you move around. Too many chairs for gamers are designed to just stay stationary. They’re made for gamers to kick back, relax and let their thumbs do all the work. In other words, they’re lazy chairs.
What makes the Buoy so special?
What makes the Buoy so unique? Simple: the design. See, the base is rounded, kind of like the bottom of a Weeble (remember those, anyone? They wobble but they don’t fall down). It’s hard to describe without seeing it in action, so I suggest heading to Turnstone to check out the videos of the Buoy. Basically, while you’re sitting on the Buoy, you “fidget” as much as you want. Forward, backward, side to side, even spin around!
When Jake is at school, I steal the Buoy to use as an office chair for a while. It can adjust from 17″ to 22.5″ in height, so it’s great for whatever type of work station your using. Since I got my HP Envy Rove, I’ve moved my work station from an uncomfortable counter to my dining room table. I just move it back when we eat. My Buoy has a convenient handle on the front and only weighs 20 pounds, so I can easily move it to where ever I’m working.
When I need a little more back support, I switch to using it as a leg rest! I sit weird when I’m working. I like to have my legs either crossed under me (which causes me to fall flat on my face when I stand up and discover my legs are asleep) or extending in front of me. The Buoy lets me keep my legs up and accommodates my very fidgety nature. The other day, my son walked in the room, looked and me and said “what is that you’re resting your feet on that doesn’t belong to you?” So apparently, even though it’s MY site and I’m the one doing all the work here, the Buoy has been claimed by him as his own.
I recommend the Buoy for everyone from gamers to work-at-home moms who like to fidget to families that just want a cool chair for everyday use. It’s so versatile and hip. While I went with the Wasabi Green because I thought it was a cool color, you can get your Buoy in a myriad of different color bases and caps. You can even swap out caps if you want to change it up a bit. So head over to Turnstone and check out the Buoy in action, then order one for your family!
Oh man, my boys would LOVE this. The thing is, I would have to get two because they would be fighting over it the entire time LOL.
what a great little chair for kids to use while playing games thankfully i only one oso no fighting would occur
I have an only too. I’m the one that fights with him for stuff, lol!
That chair looks a whole lot more comfortable then the one I am sitting in at the moment! There is only me so I would not have to share!!! (Unless my cat decided to claim it as her own——-)
That Bouy looks super comfy. I could totally use it while doing my hair.
Huh, I didn’t even think of that! I can pump it up to full height and sit on it while I flat iron my hair. Thanks for the idea!
My son is an avid gamer and he would certainly love to have one of these.
My son loves games and would like this for his gaming.
I’m not so much of a gamer but I’m such a fidgeter I think I would make great use of one 😉 x
This chair is great for fidgeters too, trust me. I never stop moving some part of my body.
My son would love this.
I have one of these and love it. Funny thing is my family picked on me when I got it and now it is fought over (though I win as it is MINE!). We plan to order a couple more once we move in three weeks.
Isn’t is awesome? My boyfriend looked at me like I was crazy when I got it, but everyone loves it now.
Our children sound similar in that my little one doesn’t sit still even when he’s sitting either. 😉
The buoy chair sounds really great, and I like how it looks too.
The only way I can tell when my son is REALLY sick is when he stops moving. LOL.
That sounds really great! Fun addition to a game roomhtt
What a unique chair and I have to admit fun too! I love that bright color, and I bet my boys would love it even more.
Thank you! I usually go for plain dark colors, but I’m really trying to brighten up my house (and life) a bit with adventurous fun colors.
This is perfect for people with nervous energy! I think my son would enjoy it. He’s in perpetual motion.
I think that’s why I love it so much, I am a bundle of nervous energy!
I love the design and I love the color of the one you chose. This seems like it would be a great chair for a variety of uses and especially for people that are gaming. This is a great find!
I’ve found so many uses for it since we got it. My son for gaming, me for working or for my feet and as an extra seat for when my son has friends over in his room.
This looks like something my niece and nephews would love! They are big gamers and sit on beanbags all the time so I bet the would love this.
We have an awesome bean bag chair for those “relaxing” games and movie watching. I love this one because it inspires active time too.
My brother is quite the gamer! This may be a perfect gift for him coming his birthday this year! Love it! It looks like a great seat/foot rest!
It is quite the cool little chair! Perfect for birthdays!
This would be perfect for my 9 year old who can’t sit still when he’s playing. It would be great when he fidets he can fall as well. Now that would be funny. Cool chair!
My girls would love this chair. I would definitely this more like an Ottoman to put up my feet.
What a brilliant idea! I was sold on the color first and then the way it works… I was a fidgety child so this would have been a dream for me.

This looks like it would be a super comfortable chair for me – i tend to lean back but this may help my posture.
How neat! Everyone in my family could benefit from using this. Too funny your little one has claimed it as his! I get that in my household, too!
He pretty much claims everything as his. We received another cool chair that I’ll be reviewing soon. He said “I never get anything for review anymore.” I looked at him like he was crazy and said “you just got $400 worth of furniture in a week!” LOL.
Looks like a great chair! We have a whole house full of gamers here! I will have to check them out, they sound awesome!
