I received a complimentary Buoy chair in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Buoy Valentine's Day Gift Chair for Gamers

I want to tell you about one of the coolest chairs I’ve ever seen: the Buoy by Turnstone. What makes this chair so cool? So many things! Let’s start with a bit of a back story. My son is an avid gamer. He takes after his mama. Before he was born and I had this magical thing called “time,” I used to spend a lot of time playing video games. In fact, whenever a new Final Fantasy came out, it wasn’t uncommon to find me glued to the controller for 12 hours a day until I beat it!

I don’t let Jake play for 12 hours a day (um, unless he and his friends are having some sort of marathon on double XP weekends, then I bend the rules) but I’m also not really one to limit him to 30 minutes. I don’t feel I have to because he’s so active when he plays.

That’s where the Buoy comes in. See, my son never stops moving when he’s playing a video game. Ever. Even when he’s sitting down. The Buoy is great because it lets him keep moving while also giving him a break from standing. While it isn’t targeted towards gamers, I think every avid gamer should have one because it actually MAKES you move around. Too many chairs for gamers are designed to just stay stationary. They’re made for gamers to kick back, relax and let their thumbs do all the work. In other words, they’re lazy chairs.

What makes the Buoy so special?

What makes the Buoy so unique? Simple: the design. See, the base is rounded, kind of like the bottom of a Weeble (remember those, anyone? They wobble but they don’t fall down). It’s hard to describe without seeing it in action, so I suggest heading to Turnstone to check out the videos of the Buoy. Basically, while you’re sitting on the Buoy, you “fidget” as much as you want. Forward, backward, side to side, even spin around!

When Jake is at school, I steal the Buoy to use as an office chair for a while. It can adjust from 17″ to 22.5″ in height, so it’s great for whatever type of work station your using. Since I got my HP Envy Rove, I’ve moved my work station from an uncomfortable counter to my dining room table. I just move it back when we eat. My Buoy has a convenient handle on the front and only weighs 20 pounds, so I can easily move it to where ever I’m working.

When I need a little more back support, I switch to using it as a leg rest! I sit weird when I’m working. I like to have my legs either crossed under me (which causes me to fall flat on my face when I stand up and discover my legs are asleep) or extending in front of me. The Buoy lets me keep my legs up and accommodates my very fidgety nature. The other day, my son walked in the room, looked and me and said “what is that you’re resting your feet on that doesn’t belong to you?” So apparently, even though it’s MY site and I’m the one doing all the work here, the Buoy has been claimed by him as his own.

I recommend the Buoy for everyone from gamers to work-at-home moms who like to fidget to families that just want a cool chair for everyday use. It’s so versatile and hip. While I went with the Wasabi Green because I thought it was a cool color, you can get your Buoy in a myriad of different color bases and caps. You can even swap out caps if you want to change it up a bit. So head over to Turnstone and check out the Buoy in action, then order one for your family!
