Treat your furry friend to fun surprises every month with these 10 pet subscription boxes that your cats and dogs will absolutely love! Let’s check them out!
My Pharaoh Hound, Freya, goes through a crazy amount of toys. She’s not only high-energy, but also incredibly smart. She needs a rotating supply of things to keep her busy, otherwise she gets into trouble. A bored dog is never a good thing, but a bored Pharaoh Hound is a whole different ball game! When she’s not entertained, THIS is what happens:
It’s been brutally cold out for over a week now and Freya is going stir crazy. They’re only allowed out for about 5 minutes to go to the bathroom, then they have to come back in. While we’ll get a small break and finally reach freezing, it’s still going to be too cold for her to spend a lot of time outdoors for a while. I need a way to keep her busy!
She LOVES getting packages in the mail and goes crazy when UPS or FedEx shows up, hoping that it’s a box for her. Alas, 90% of the time, it’s not. I want to get her a few fun pet-friendly subscription boxes so she has something to look forward to! Here are my top picks for the coolest looking subscription boxes for dogs and cats (because Alex the Fuzz and Zoe like packages, too!).

BarkBox is one of the most popular subscription boxes for dogs for a good reason. Each box is filled with at least $45 worth of fun goodies tailored to your dog’s size. Along with tasty treats made in the USA, your pup also gets some really fun themed toys.
2. Pooch Perks
If you’re looking for a box with a bit more variety, Pooch Perks is the way to go! Starting at just $11.95, this box is loaded with fun toys and Made in the USA treats. One thing I love about this one: you can choose to get a box with just toys, just treats, or both. For those who have dogs with allergies (or picky pups), opting out of the treats and getting extra toys is definitely a plus. In fact, when you click on the “Subscribe” button, you’ll see a huge drop-down menu loaded with choices. It’s probably one of the most customizable pet subscription boxes out there.
Surprise My Pet makes boxes for both cats and dogs. They also donate a portion of the proceeds to charity, and you can choose which one you’d like to support. While their boxes are a bit more expensive than the first two on the list, you get 5-7 high-quality items in every box along with a handwritten note on the box. The company is run by two teenage siblings, which makes me want to support it even more. I love when kids stretch their entrepreneurial wings. Choose from Single Cat Family, Multi-Cat Family, and Dog boxes.
The Wigglebutt Box stands because they not only include plenty of fun surprises for your dog, but also a little something for you, too! You’ll get 6-8 items per box, tailored to your dog’s size and chewing level (you’ll select that when you subscribe). Surprises include toys, treats, a seasonal bandanna, and more. All of the treats are free of corn, soy, and wheat, and they donate a portion of the profits to animal charities. They have quite a few photos of past boxes on their CrateJoy page, so you can get a good idea of what to expect.
If customization options are important to you, PupJoy should be on your radar. They offer 28 different customization options so you can get the perfect box for your pup. Choose from boxes tailored towards sensitive tummies, toy-only boxes, and more, all based on your dog’s size and preferences. They also offer cash back and other loyalty incentives. The nice thing about this box: your subscription starts the day after you order, so you don’t have to wait weeks to get it (making it perfect for gifting). After that, you’ll get it around the same time each month.
Moving on to our feline friends, KittycatKrate appears to be relatively new (it doesn’t have any reviews on CrateJoy at this time), but based on the sample pics it looks like something my cats would love. This is another box that ships right away (subsequent boxes ship around the 21st of each month). It comes with 5-7 toys & high-quality treats for cats. If you count the box it comes in, that’s more like 6-8! Hey, cats love boxes. It’s a fact!
My Purrfect Gift Box ships from the UK, so it will take a little longer to reach you than most of the other boxes on this list. While the standard box is more a gift for cat lovers, the Standard + Cat Gifts includes something for both of you. I love this one for two reasons. First, you get cool little gifts from the UK, so it’s stuff you’re not already likely to have. Second, the majority of Europe has far stricter standards than the US on pretty much everything, including pet food. They ship worldwide and donate a portion of their profits to UK pet charities.
Another one just for kitties, the KitNipBox is filled with themed goodies like toys & treats. Each box comes with 5 high-value items and a portion of the proceeds go towards helping pets in need. At under $20, it’s one of the most budget-friendly pet subscription boxes as well.
Another box with tons of options, Pet Store in a Box is pretty much what it sounds like. It includes everything from toys to treats to food, depending on your selection. You can even get a box of litter through them! it ships from Canada, so keep that in mind. It costs $10 extra to ship to the US. However, if you’re in Canada, the box ships free. If you want to go big and get a HUGE stockpile of toys and treats, go with the Ultimate Menagerie Box for two cats and two dogs. It comes with 40 toys, treats, and accessories for $172.99 (CAD). That comes out to about $4.30 per item.
Phew, finding subscription boxes for cats (or boxes that include an option for our feline friends) is not as easy as I thought it would be! Pawtyfun has a few different boxes, including a cat-centric box. They also have bird, small animals, mini pig (I am assuming that’s one of those tiny pigs that people have as pets, and not guinea pigs), and of course a dog box. Each box comes with 2-3 toys and 2-3 treats, plus your pet will get a special surprise on their birthday.
Now the hard part is deciding which one to try first! My pups and kitties would love pretty much any of these. Honestly, my cats will love the box the most, lol!
