Remember back at the end of last year, I shared Maia’s experiences on Purina Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+® Formula? I told you all about how it was helping keep Maia’s very clever mind sharp. Well, Miss Maia has only been getting sharper since December! She’s positively brilliant, and not just because she’s so smart! She radiates happiness and health from the inside out. I thought this would be a good time to update you on Maia’s experience with Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind.
Maia’s Experience with Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind
Quick refresher course on Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind: it’s a fantastic formula created especially for pets ages 7+ to help combat the effects of aging on their brains. Bright Mind contains enhanced botanicals that essentially nourish the minds by giving the neurons more energy, allowing your dog’s mind to better process glucose. Basically, it’s brain food for dogs. Bright Mind also helps support joint health and maintain lean muscle mass.
If you recall from my first post, Maia has always been a clever girl. She’s part Lassie, so of course she’s smart! She’s also always been a bit on the laid back (lazy) side. From an early age, she learned how to use her smarts to get others to do things for her. If she wanted to go out, she’d nudge at her adopted sister Tasha (my German Shepherd), then wait for her to scratch at the door. Only when we’d open the door for Tash would Maia bother getting up. That way, if we weren’t going to respond, she didn’t have to be bothered with the whole getting up and asking process!
Maia did love going for walks. She’d also have her active moments during an odd little gallop and dance routine. For no particular reason, Maia would suddenly start running around and leaping, like she was literally dancing a ballet. She hasn’t done that since she was much younger..until recently.
Out of the blue last week, Maia started galloping about the house, tossing her head this way and that, showing off her royal prettiness and showing the world that she still has it. I wish I took I thought to take a video, but I was so surprised by this sudden burst of energy that I didn’t react fast enough. I’ve also noticed that Maia seems more lively in general. She’s definitely more talkative. I feel like she was withdrawing a bit for a while, not really engaging like she used to. Since she’s been eating her Bright Mind, she’s back to telling us what she thinks all the time. I just wish I had a dog translator!
Perhaps most noticeably of all, Her Royal Alpha exhibits an incredible amount of patients with our kitten, Alex the Fuzz. The Fuzz is absolutely madly in love with Maia. I think he thinks she’s his mom! Fuzz lays with Maia all day, kneads her, plays with her face and just loves her. When Fuzz first moved in back in November, Maia wasn’t too enthusiastic at first about all this. Now, though, she seems to really love her baby right back…or at the very least she tolerates his extreme love for her.
I picked up my Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind at my local PetSmart. I’ll be heading back there shortly to pick up more once I run out and also try out the new Bright Mind wet food! I was hoping to try it out before this post, but we all got the flu here and then I hurt my wrist, so it’s hard to drive anywhere.

What do you do to keep your dog’s mind sharp? Tell me in the comments!
I have a pug and she does not really like her food. The one we were using since she was born went out of business and we have been trying many different brands. We have not tried this one yet, maybe we will see if she likes it! Thanks!
What a beautiful puppy! That furry face is just begging for some lovin’; I wish I could crawl through the screen and give her lots of it, too 🙂 I’m happy to hear that this food is helping her keep her mind sharp and body healthy! It’s SO important that not only do we feed ourselves health-promoting foods but we also extend that to our pets as well.
Your puppy is so adorable! But alas I a cat person and I have two equally adorable felines who are the boss of me at home! Haha! Thanks for sharing your post on Purina. They are a wonderful company for sure!
It’s great when you see how much your dog’s health has improved with the way you’ve been feeding her. It gives you assurance that she’s getting what she need! That’s awesome news, thanks for sharing your experience!

Beautiful dog! This is good to know what to give my pup when she is older. I want to make sure she lives the longest life possible and stays healthy.
My fur baby is fairly young, but I will remember to purchase this Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind at the appropriate time. I know Purina has an excellent line of pet food and I trust them with the nutrition of my fur baby.
Your puppy looks pretty good & I am sure it gives a better feeling when your pet’s health improves based on your medication. Though we don’t have pets at home, I understand they become a part of your family & we need to make sure they live healthy.
Sweet. I like to see dogs being nice to Kitties. I know a dog who used to try ti nurse them, lol
I love Purina! I don’t think we’ve tried this yet though. I will have to check it out for my three! I bet they’d love it!
